check-todos

check-todos is a skill for Claude Code from buildomator/buildomator. It costs 13 tokens per session (282 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for finding pending todos, reviewing their context, and choosing one to work on. It can also compare todos with a project roadmap and update the project's state.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps list or filter todos, select a task, load its supporting files, decide how to route the work, update STATE.md, and commit the changes.
Why use it?
It prevents unfinished work from being overlooked or started without checking existing project plans and related tasks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00013 $0.00282
Opus 5 $0.00006 $0.00141
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00056
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00028

Security

Grade A, and why

check-todos scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Routes to the check-todos workflow which handles:

  • Todo counting and listing with area filtering
  • Interactive selection with full context loading
  • Roadmap correlation checking
  • Action routing (work now, add to phase, brainstorm, create phase)
  • STATE.md updates and git commits

<execution_context> @${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/workflows/check-todos.md </execution_context>

Todo state and roadmap correlation are loaded in-workflow using init todos and targeted reads.

The workflow handles all logic including:

  1. Todo existence checking
  2. Area filtering
  3. Interactive listing and selection
  4. Full context loading with file summaries
  5. Roadmap correlation checking
  6. Action offering and execution
  7. STATE.md updates
  8. Git commits
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
