composite-layup

composite-layup is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Cai-aa/CAE-Agent-Hub. It costs 40 tokens per session (2,916 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for defining the layers of a composite part in Abaqus. A composite layup is the ordered stack of material plies, each with its own thickness and fibre direction.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to set or change ply angles, thicknesses, ply counts, labels, and the orientation system used by a curing simulation.
Why use it?
It makes changes to the number, thickness, order, and angles of the layers more consistent with the model format.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00040 $0.02916
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.01458
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00583
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00292

Security

Grade A, and why

composite-layup scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Composite Layup Definition

This skill defines and modifies the composite layup for curing simulation. It covers ply angles, ply thickness, ply count, and the orientation system used by the *Solid Section, composite card in Abaqus.

Ply Definition Format

The composite layup is defined inside the P8 Part using *Solid Section, composite. Each ply is specified on a single data line with five fields:

*Solid Section, elset=CompositeLayup-1-1, composite, orientation=Ori-1, stack direction=3, layup=CompositeLayup-1
<thickness>, 3, COM, <angle>, Ply-<N>

Field Breakdown

Field Value Description
1 thickness Ply thickness in model units (mm). E.g., 1. or 0.250
2 3 Stack direction index (always 3 for this model)
3 COM Material name (references *Material, name=COM with UMAT)
4 angle Ply angle in degrees. E.g., 0., 45., -45., 90.
5 Ply-N Ply label (N is the ply number, starting from 1)

All plies are listed consecutively under a single *Solid Section card. The element set (CompositeLayup-1-1) covers all elements in the composite part.

Example: 4-Ply Layup (1 mm each)

*Solid Section, elset=CompositeLayup-1-1, composite, orientation=Ori-1, stack direction=3, layup=CompositeLayup-1
1., 3, COM, 0., Ply-1
1., 3, COM, 0., Ply-2
1., 3, COM, 0., Ply-3
1., 3, COM, 0., Ply-4

Example: 8-Ply Layup (0.25 mm each)

*Solid Section, elset=CompositeLayup-1-1, composite, orientation=Ori-1, stack direction=3, layup=CompositeLayup-1
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-1
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-2
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-3
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-4
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-5
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-6
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-7
0.250, 3, COM, 0., Ply-8

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

composite-layup is a skill published in the GitHub repository Cai-aa/CAE-Agent-Hub (868 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 40 tokens to every session and 2,916 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
