cylinder-o-grid

cylinder-o-grid is a skill for Codex from Cai-aa/CAE-Agent-Hub. It costs 124 tokens per session (1,377 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for planning and checking a structured hexahedral mesh around a cylinder. A mesh divides a computer model into small elements so an engineering solver can calculate its behavior.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps plan or build cylinder meshes in a chosen engineering preprocessor, including mapped square-to-circle partitions and HEX8 elements.
Why use it?
It helps create the intended five-block O-shaped layout, with a central square connected to the circular boundary, and catches topology or quality problems before analysis.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00124 $0.01377
Opus 5 $0.00062 $0.00688
Sonnet 5 $0.00025 $0.00275
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00138

Security

Grade A, and why

cylinder-o-grid scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/abaqus_build_ogrid.py, scripts/plan_ogrid.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Cylinder O-Grid

Create a reviewable coin-style O-grid and accept it only after topology, mesh, and analysis checks pass in the selected CAE workflow.

Establish the task

Collect or infer only low-risk inputs:

  • Identify the target preprocessor, solver, analysis type, and whether the task is plan-only or a live implementation.
  • Distinguish a new cylinder from an existing production part.
  • Record radius R, length L, cylinder axis, units, and any interfaces or local refinement zones.
  • Record the requested brick family and the exact solver-specific formulation when known.
  • Record either target element size or counts for one square side/90-degree arc, radial layers, and axial layers.
  • Ask before changing geometry, deleting an existing mesh, replacing a model, or relaxing a quality gate.

If live access to the target CAE application is unavailable, generate a plan and preview, label them as unexecuted in that application, and do not claim that the mesh was created or validated there.

Enforce the topology

Use a circular cross-section with one centered, axis-aligned square. Connect each square vertex to the circle along the same 45-degree radial direction. Preserve these invariants:

  • Keep 0 < a < R/sqrt(2), where a is the square half-width.
  • Create five sweepable cross-section regions: one center block and four outer sectors.
  • Use the same count n_side on every square side and corresponding 90-degree outer arc.
  • Use the same n_radial on all four vertex-to-circle connector edges.
  • Use the same n_axial on all edges parallel to the cylinder axis.
  • Keep partitions continuous through the full cylinder length and share nodes at every internal boundary.
  • Reject free tetrahedral fallback unless the user explicitly changes the objective.

Read references/topology.md before selecting the square size or element counts.

Route to the target software

  • For every target, first produce and review the software-independent plan with scripts/plan_ogrid.py.
  • For Abaqus/CAE, read references/abaqus.md. Use scripts/abaqus_build_ogrid.py only for a clean, straight cylinder aligned with global Z; adapt the workflow for existing or differently oriented parts.
  • For another CAE preprocessor, translate the five logical blocks, edge roles, mapped quadrilateral controls, axial sweep, and quality gates into its native operations. Use only available registered tools or documented native APIs. No non-Abaqus automated builder is bundled, so deliver plan-only evidence if live construction and readback cannot be proved.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cylinder-o-grid is a skill published in the GitHub repository Cai-aa/CAE-Agent-Hub (877 stars, last pushed 5d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 124 tokens to every session and 1,377 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
