luma-ray-video

luma-ray-video is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from calesthio/generative-media-skills. It costs 79 tokens per session (5,184 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for Luma Ray video generation through Luma's current developer API. It distinguishes that API from Luma's consumer app and older Dream Machine interface.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to generate, edit, extend, or reframe videos from text, images, or multiple keyframes, including HDR and EXR output workflows.
Why use it?
It helps prevent incompatible credentials, models, request formats, prices, and data terms from being mixed together.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00079 $0.05184
Opus 5 $0.00039 $0.02592
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.01037
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00518

Security

Grade A, and why

luma-ray-video scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Luma Ray video production

Route the job before writing a request. Luma currently exposes similarly named products with incompatible models, schemas, credentials, prices, and data terms. For new API integrations, use the Luma Agents API and ray-3.2; treat the older Dream Machine API as a legacy compatibility surface.

Volatile facts were verified from first-party Luma sources on 2026-07-10. Recheck the model page, schema, price, account limits, and applicable agreement before any paid or sensitive run.

Separate the three surfaces

Current developer surface: Luma Agents API

  • Base URL: https://agents.lumalabs.ai/v1
  • Credential: LUMA_AGENTS_API_KEY, sent as a Bearer token; current keys begin luma-api-.
  • Model: ray-3.2.
  • Generation types: video, video_edit, video_reframe on POST /v1/generations; poll GET /v1/generations/{id}.
  • Current response header: X-API-Version: 2026-04-01. It is informational; do not send it as a request version.
  • Current official Python package: luma-agents (from luma_agents import Luma). TypeScript, Go, CLI, and raw HTTP are also documented.

Use this surface for all new code. Sources: Agents quickstart, models, API reference.

Consumer surface: Luma App

The browser/iOS product has subscription plans and a separate credit system. Ray3.14 is documented as App-only, not an API model. App credits do not transfer to API billing. Luma’s May 2026 official-information page says “Dream Machine” is retired product terminology and calls the consumer product Luma App.

Do not translate App controls, credit counts, relaxed mode, watermarks, or Ray3.14 features into Agents API fields. Sources: official product terminology, Ray3.14 FAQ, App plans.

Legacy developer surface: Dream Machine API

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
