mysql-query

mysql-query is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CamiProject/semantic-deer-flow. It costs 47 tokens per session (739 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only way to explore a MySQL database, a database system that stores structured information in tables, using SQL queries.

In plain words
What is it for?
Inspecting database structure, querying approved data sources, validating SQL, and producing analysis or reports within the permitted scope.
Why use it?
It supports reporting and schema discovery while preventing changes to the data and avoiding guesses about database or table names.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00047 $0.00739
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00369
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00148
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00074

Security

Grade A, and why

mysql-query scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

MySQL Query

Use this skill for read-only MySQL exploration and reporting. Delegate database work to a general-purpose subagent with the SQL tools, and keep the query within the data source and Scope supplied by the runtime.

Configuration

For local development, configure an explicitly public or local database:

MYSQL_HOST=localhost
MYSQL_PORT=3306
MYSQL_USER=your-readonly-user
MYSQL_PASSWORD=your-readonly-password
MYSQL_DATABASE=semantic_demo

For trusted SaaS requests, the runtime supplies signed tenant and permission context. The data-source registry connection uses SAAS_CONFIG_DB_* environment variables. Registry table and column names are configurable with SAAS_CONFIG_DB_TABLE and the related SAAS_CONFIG_DB_*_COLUMN variables. Never ask a user to provide or override tenant IDs, data-source URLs, passwords, internal tokens, or signed Scope claims.

The committed public examples use these clearly synthetic values:

Field Public example
Tenant public-tenant-001 / public_demo
Principal public-user-001
System demo
Database semantic_demo
Tables demo_sites, demo_projects

Workflow

  1. Identify the requested metric, dimensions, filters, and time range.
  2. If the schema is unknown, use sql_show_databases, sql_list_tables, and sql_schema once each as needed.
  3. Generate one bounded SELECT query. Use sql_query_checker for complex joins or aggregations.
  4. Execute with sql_query, then present the result and any important limitations.
  5. On an error, make at most one evidence-based correction. Otherwise report the error without guessing alternate tenant databases, tables, or columns.

Delegation Example

{
  "description": "Count visible demo projects",
  "prompt": "In the configured public demo data source, count projects grouped by site. First inspect demo_projects if its schema is not already known, then execute one bounded SELECT query. Honor the signed tenant Scope and do not try alternate databases.",
  "subagent_type": "general-purpose"
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mysql-query is a skill published in the GitHub repository CamiProject/semantic-deer-flow (21 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 47 tokens to every session and 739 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
