memory-service: Skill for Claude Code

.skills/build-test/SKILL.md

build-test is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from chirino/memory-service. It costs 42 tokens per session (1,046 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of build and test commands for a memory-service project containing Go, Java, frontend, and Python code. It includes commands for compiling, running targeted tests, starting development, and testing different authentication setups.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build the Go project, run selected Go or BDD tests, test Java code, develop the memory service, or run the documented frontend and Python checks. It also covers special Go build tags for production authentication and test fixtures.
Why use it?
It helps choose the smallest appropriate verification after a change and avoids using incompatible authentication or SQLite test settings. It documents the supported full test matrix as well as focused checks.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

This is chirino/memory-service's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on memory-service itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything memory-service configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is go test -tags='sqlite_fts5' ./internal/plugin/store/sqlite -count=1.

Reuse

Borrowing it

Nothing to install: this file belongs to chirino/memory-service. Take a copy, put it at the same path in your own repository, and replace the rules that are about this project with yours.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00042 $0.01046
Opus 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00418
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00209
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00105

Security

Grade A, and why

build-test scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Build & Development

Run the smallest verification that covers the files you changed.

What to run after a change

Changed Run
Go (main.go, internal/, go.mod) go build ./... (or the affected packages), go vet on touched packages, and the relevant tests
Java, Quarkus, Spring ./java/mvnw -f java/pom.xml -pl <module> -am compile; a full compile only for broad changes
frontends/chat-frontend/ npm run lint && npm run build (or task test:chat-frontend)
frontends/developer/ npm run lint && npm test && npm run build (or task test:developer-frontend)
typescript/ task generate:typescript for formatting, plus the package's npm run build
python/ python3 -m compileall on changed files; task verify:python when packaging or gRPC stubs are affected
internal/sitebdd/ go build -tags='site_tests sqlite_fts5' ./internal/sitebdd/ (see the site-tests skill)
Contracts See the api-contract-change skill

Go

go build ./...
go test -tags='sqlite_fts5' ./internal/plugin/store/sqlite -count=1
task test:go
task dev:memory-service # Air hot reload on :8082, dependencies via Docker Compose

Go build tags and BDD auth modes

Use task test:go for the supported full Go test matrix. It runs production-auth tests and raw-bearer fixture tests separately:

  • Normal Go tests and production-auth BDD runners use sqlite_fts5.
  • Tests that authenticate users with raw bearer fixture values need both sqlite_fts5 and auth_testfixtures.
  • A bare go test ./internal/bdd -run TestFeaturesSQLite uses production auth and fails fixture-based scenarios with raw bearer user assertions are not accepted in production builds.

Targeted SQLite BDD runner with the feature-suite bearer fixtures:

CGO_ENABLED=1 go test -race -tags='sqlite_fts5 auth_testfixtures' \
  ./internal/bdd -run '^TestFeaturesSQLite$' -count=1

Production-auth BDD runners, matching task test:go:

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

build-test is a skill published in the GitHub repository chirino/memory-service (12 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 42 tokens to every session and 1,046 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
