Product Management

Product Management is a skill for Claude Code from ChrisMckerracher/claude-dream-team. It costs 41 tokens per session (805 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for writing product documentation for software features. It covers user stories, Gherkin feature files, acceptance criteria, and checks that an implementation matches the intended product behavior.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to write user stories, describe scenarios in `.feature` files, define acceptance criteria, and review whether a feature meets its product intent.
Why use it?
It helps convert product ideas into specific, testable requirements. It also makes expected behavior clearer to developers and reviewers.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00041 $0.00805
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.00402
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00161
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00081

Security

Grade A, and why

Product Management scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Product Management Skill

User Story Framework

Use the standard format with specific guidance:

As a [specific persona - not just "user"],
I want [concrete action - what they do, not what the system does],
So that [measurable outcome - how their life improves].

Good example:

As a project manager with 10+ direct reports,
I want to see a summary dashboard of all team members' task progress,
So that I can identify blockers in our weekly standup without asking each person.

Bad example:

As a user,
I want to see data,
So that I can do things.

Gherkin Feature File Best Practices

Structure

Feature: [Noun phrase describing the capability]
[1-2 sentence description of the feature's purpose]

  Background:
Given [shared preconditions for all scenarios]

Scenario: [Descriptive name - what happens, not how]
Given [initial state - be specific]
When [user action - one action per When]
Then [observable outcome - what the user sees/experiences]
    And [additional verifiable outcome]

  Scenario Outline: [Parameterized scenario name]
    Given [state with <parameter>]
    When [action with <parameter>]
    Then [outcome with <parameter>]

    Examples:
      | parameter | expected |
      | value1 | result1 |
      | value2 | result2 |

Scenario Coverage Checklist

  • Happy path (primary success flow)
  • Empty state (no data, first-time user)
  • Error state (invalid input, server error)
  • Boundary conditions (max length, zero, negative)
  • Permission/auth variations
  • Concurrent/race conditions (if applicable)

Product Brief Checklist

Before submitting a brief for review:

  • Problem statement is specific and backed by evidence
  • Target persona is clearly defined
  • Success criteria are measurable
  • User stories cover all personas
  • Acceptance criteria are testable (QA can verify)
  • Out of scope is explicitly stated
  • Open questions are listed (not hidden)
  • Dependencies on other features are noted

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

Product Management is a skill published in the GitHub repository ChrisMckerracher/claude-dream-team (5 stars, last pushed 6mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 41 tokens to every session and 805 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
