korean-law

korean-law is a skill for Claude Code from chrisryugj/korean-law-mcp. It costs 85 tokens per session (556 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A legal research connection to South Korea's official law information service. It can retrieve statutes, court decisions, administrative rules, local ordinances, treaties, and legal interpretations, then check cited provisions against the source.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search Korean law, read provisions and decisions, retrieve attachments, investigate related rules, verify citations, and examine how laws apply or changed.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of relying on an incorrect or outdated legal citation. It also keeps text returned from legal sources separate from instructions that might appear inside that text.

About the project

Korean Law MCP is an MCP server and command-line tool that lets AI assistants search Korean statutes, precedents, ordinances, and other legal materials from the Ministry of Government Legislation. Legal researchers and AI workflows use it to retrieve Korean law, verify citations, compare legal provisions over time, and inspect relationships between regulations. Catalogue add-ons provide commands, instructions, and integrations for using the server with coding agents.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00085 $0.00556
Opus 5.5 $0.00034 $0.00222
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00111
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00056

Measured 5d ago against content hash ea2341b42bae, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

korean-law scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

법령 찾기, 조문 읽기 search_law → get_law_text
별표·서식 get_annexes
판례·해석례 등 결정문 search_decisions → get_decision_text
여러 단계 리서치(처벌 기준, 근거 법령 체계 등) legal_research
인용 검증·판례 생사·행위시법·조문 영향 legal_analysis (mode: verify_citations, cite_check, applicable_law, impact_map)
조례 정비 대상 찾기 ordinance_radar
그 밖의 전문 도구 discover_tools → execute_tool

답변 원칙

  • 조문과 판례 번호는 조회한 원문에서 옮긴다. 기억에 기대어 적지 않는다.
  • 답변에 법령 조문이나 판례를 인용했다면 legal_analysis(mode="verify_citations")로 실존과 내용 일치를 확인한다.
  • 법적 효력이 필요한 판단은 국가법령정보센터 원문 확인을 권한다.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
