make-wpf-chat-orchestrator

make-wpf-chat-orchestrator is a skill for Claude Code from christian289/dotnet-with-claudecode. It costs 90 tokens per session (2,380 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A streaming chat coordinator for a WPF application. It turns incoming AI replies and tool activity into simple events, and can connect the chat to MCP tools, which let an AI call external programs through a standard interface.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to connect streaming Microsoft AI chats to a WPF interface and acquire tools from MCP servers launched over standard input and output.
Why use it?
It removes UI-specific chat-loop code and organizes text updates, tool progress, errors, and cancellation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00090 $0.02380
Opus 5.5 $0.00036 $0.00952
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00476
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00238

Security

Grade A, and why

make-wpf-chat-orchestrator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

WPF Chat Orchestrator Generator

If $0 is empty, use the AskUserQuestion tool to ask: "Enter the orchestrator class name (e.g., ChatOrchestrator)". Do NOT proceed until a valid name is provided. Use the response as the orchestrator name for all subsequent steps.

Generate $0: a streaming chat orchestrator that decomposes IChatClient.GetStreamingResponseAsync into a stream of UI-agnostic ChatEvents, plus the MCP tool acquisition (McpClient.CreateAsync + StdioClientTransport) that feeds ChatOptions.Tools.

  • Replace {Namespace} with the project's root namespace.
  • The IChatClient is produced by /wpf-dev-pack:make-wpf-chatclient-factory (already wrapped with UseFunctionInvocation, so the tool loop runs automatically).

Full rationale in two knowledge topics (fetch via WpfDevPackMcp get_wpf_topic): hosting-extensions-ai-chatclient-in-wpf-mvvm (Dispatcher marshaling, the yield-illegal-in-catch (CS1631) restructuring, cancellation) and consuming-mcp-tools-in-extensions-ai (there is no McpClientFactory; McpClient is abstract — use the static CreateAsync; off-Dispatcher exit dispose).

⚠️ Verify signatures with HandMirror first

Microsoft.Extensions.AI and the MCP SDK evolve quickly. Before emitting, verify with HandMirror (inspect_nuget_package / inspect_nuget_package_type): Microsoft.Extensions.AI (IChatClient, ChatResponseUpdate, ChatOptions, FunctionCallContent, FunctionResultContent) and ModelContextProtocol (McpClient.CreateAsync, StdioClientTransport, McpClientTool).

Required Packages

<PackageReference Include="Microsoft.Extensions.AI" Version="10.*" />
<PackageReference Include="ModelContextProtocol" Version="1.*" />

ModelContextProtocol 1.x ships the client types (McpClient, StdioClientTransport, McpClientTool) in its ModelContextProtocol.Core dependency — the package reference above still works (Core flows transitively) and the ModelContextProtocol.Client namespace is unchanged.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
