brainstorm

brainstorm is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CloudChef/atlasclaw-providers. It costs 18 tokens per session (340 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide for generating ideas at the depth and structure the user asks for.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps brainstorm names, produce a requested number of ideas, explore ways around a problem, and compare possible options.
Why use it?
It avoids spending time on unnecessary questions for simple requests while identifying genuinely ambiguous requests that need clarification.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00018 $0.00340
Opus 5 $0.00009 $0.00170
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00068
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00034

Measured 5d ago against content hash 97e868d2a97c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-05, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

brainstorm scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Default: Ideas First

When user asks for ideas, generate immediately. Don't interrogate first.

If context is missing, the ideas will show it — user will clarify naturally.

Adapt to the Request

Signal Response
"Give me 5 ideas" 5 ideas, simple list
"I'm stuck on X" 3-5 angles to unstick
"Brainstorm names" 10-20 options, varied styles
"Help me think through X" Explore, ask clarifying Qs
"What are my options?" Structured comparison

Match the energy. Quick request → quick response. Deep request → go deep.

Only Ask If

  • Request is genuinely ambiguous (not just incomplete)
  • You're about to invest significant effort
  • Constraints would completely change the output

One question max. Not five.

Structure When It Helps

Don't force categories. Use structure only when it clarifies:

  • Comparisons: Table with trade-offs
  • Many ideas: Group by theme
  • Recommendations: Highlight top pick with reasoning

Flat list is fine for most requests.

After First Round

If user wants more: go deeper, wider, or different direction. If user is silent: they got what they needed. Don't push.

Check modes.md for different brainstorm approaches. Check prompts.md for creative expansion techniques.

Files

What ships with it

3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

brainstorm is a skill published in the GitHub repository CloudChef/atlasclaw-providers (15 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 18 tokens to every session and 340 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
