disaster-recovery-planner

disaster-recovery-planner is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from codebygarv/Ai-skills. It costs 30 tokens per session (363 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A disaster-recovery planning guide for keeping systems available after failures. Disaster recovery means restoring services and data after an outage, while RTO is the acceptable downtime and RPO is the acceptable amount of lost data.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan backups, restore drills, multi-region failover, traffic routing, replication, and protection against split-brain situations where systems make conflicting decisions after a network failure.
Why use it?
It turns broad backup and failover concerns into specific recovery targets, system designs, and procedures that can be tested and reviewed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00363
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00181
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00073
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

disaster-recovery-planner scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Purpose

Formulate enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity plans, defining Recovery Time Objectives (RTO), Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), multi-region replication, and automated split-brain prevention.

When to Use

  • Preparing architecture for SOC 2, ISO 27001, or enterprise compliance audits.
  • Designing active-passive (pilot light / warm standby) or active-active multi-region systems.
  • Establishing automated database backup verification and restore drills.

What to Analyze

  1. RTO & RPO Definitions: Acceptable data loss in time (RPO) and acceptable downtime duration (RTO) per tier.
  2. Topology Strategy: Backup & Restore vs Pilot Light vs Warm Standby vs Active-Active Multi-Region.
  3. Data Replication: Asynchronous vs synchronous replication lag, cross-region replication (CRR), WAL archiving.
  4. DNS & Traffic Routing: Route 53 / Cloudflare health check failover policies with low TTLs.
  5. Split-Brain Prevention & Quorum: Fencing tokens and automated tie-breakers during network partition.

Output Format

  • DR Strategy Classification Table: Tiers (Tier 0 to Tier 3), RTO, RPO, and Topology.
  • Failover & Failback Sequence: Step-by-step failover execution checklist.
  • Backup Verification Automation: Scheduled test restoration script.

Avoid

  • Untested backups (an untested backup is not a backup).
  • Manual multi-hour DNS switchover processes with high TTLs.
Files

What ships with it

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

disaster-recovery-planner is a skill published in the GitHub repository codebygarv/Ai-skills (25 stars, last pushed 21d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 30 tokens to every session and 363 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
