interview-question-generator

interview-question-generator is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from codebygarv/Ai-skills. It costs 41 tokens per session (463 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool for creating technical interview questions and a scoring guide for a particular role or skill. The guide describes what strong, adequate, and weak answers look like.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when planning interviews for areas such as React, SQL, or backend system design, while accounting for seniority and available time.
Why use it?
It replaces improvised or overly generic questions with a more consistent way to assess candidates across interviewers.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00041 $0.00463
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.00231
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00093
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00046

Security

Grade A, and why

interview-question-generator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 35 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Purpose

Generate a set of technical interview questions for a given role/skill area, paired with a concrete evaluation rubric — so interviews are structured and comparable across candidates, not improvised each time.

When to Use

  • Preparing to interview a candidate for a specific role or skill area.
  • An interview loop needs consistent questions across interviewers.
  • Existing interview questions feel stale, too generic, or don't actually test what the role needs.

What to Analyze / Do

  1. Clarify what's actually being assessed — a specific skill area (e.g. "React component design," "SQL query writing," "system design for a backend role"), seniority level, and time budget.
  2. Generate questions that discriminate — questions where a strong candidate's answer clearly differs from a weak one, not questions with a single memorizable correct answer that only tests recall.
  3. Mix question types appropriately for the time budget — e.g. one deeper problem plus a couple of follow-up probes, rather than many shallow questions if time is short.
  4. Write a rubric per question — what a strong, adequate, and weak answer each look like, so different interviewers score consistently.
  5. Include likely follow-up probes for each question — what to ask if the candidate's first answer is too shallow, to get more signal.

Output Format

  • For each question: the question itself, what it's assessing, the rubric (strong/adequate/weak signals), and 1-2 follow-up probes.
  • Ordered roughly by difficulty or logical flow (easier/broader first, if applicable).
  • A note on total suggested time budget across the set.

Avoid

  • Trivia-style questions that just test memorization of a specific fact/API rather than actual understanding or problem-solving.
  • Questions with a single "gotcha" correct answer with no room for a candidate to demonstrate reasoning.
  • Generating questions detached from the stated seniority level (e.g. asking senior-level system design questions for an entry-level role).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
