resolving-merge-conflicts

resolving-merge-conflicts is a skill for Codex from d0hx4n2503/Agent-Skills. It costs 23 tokens per session (204 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of resolving-merge-conflicts, Apache-2.0.

A set of instructions for resolving conflicts that happen when Git combines different changes during a merge or rebase. It includes reviewing the conflicting files and the reasons behind each change before finishing the operation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it during an in-progress Git merge or rebase to inspect conflicts, resolve them, run checks, and complete the operation.
Why use it?
It helps preserve the intended work from both sides of a conflict and avoid blindly choosing one version. It also requires running the project's checks after the resolution.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00023 $0.00204
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00102
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00041
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00020

Security

Grade A, and why

resolving-merge-conflicts scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

  1. See the current state of the merge/rebase. Check git history, and the conflicting files.

  2. Find the primary sources for each conflict. Understand deeply why each change was made, and what the original intent was. Read the commit messages, check the PRs, check original issues/tickets.

  3. Resolve each hunk. Preserve both intents where possible. Where incompatible, pick the one matching the merge's stated goal and note the trade-off. Do not invent new behaviour. Always resolve; never --abort.

  4. Discover the project's automated checks and run them — typically typecheck, then tests, then format. Fix anything the merge broke.

  5. Finish the merge/rebase. Stage everything and commit. If rebasing, continue the rebase process until all commits are rebased.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
