deslopify

deslopify is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from danicat/speedgrapher. It costs 52 tokens per session (409 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An editing skill that rewrites text to remove clichés, common AI wording, and rigid patterns that can make writing sound machine-generated.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to revise articles, documentation, marketing copy, and other text that feels overly artificial or formulaic.
Why use it?
It helps make drafts sound more natural and less repetitive without relying on familiar AI phrases or padded structure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.00409
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00204
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00082
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00041

Measured 8d ago against content hash 16cd55e253e9, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

deslopify scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Deslopify

This skill rewrites text to remove common AI tropes, clichés, and recognizable structural patterns. It makes writing sound more human, varied, and authentic.

Reference material

Read references/tropes.md to understand the catalog of AI "tells" to avoid. These include:

  • "Magic" adverbs like quietly, deeply, and fundamentally.
  • Fanciful vocabulary such as delve, tapestry, landscape, robust, seamless, and leverage.
  • Structural clichés like negative parallelism ("It's not X — it's Y"), dramatic countdowns ("Not X. Not Y. Just Z."), and unnecessary rhetorical questions ("The result? Devastating.").
  • Anaphora and tricolon abuse.
  • Padding transitions like "It's worth noting" and false ranges like "From X to Y".
  • Pedagogical tones such as "Let's break this down", false vulnerability, and grandiose stakes.
  • Excessive em-dashes and bold-first bullet lists.

Deslopification workflow

  1. Analyze: Scan the text and identify occurrences of the tropes listed in tropes.md.
  2. Strip structure: Remove rigid AI formatting, fractal summaries, signposted conclusions, and listicle-like paragraphs.
  3. Rewrite:
    • Replace complex or grandiose words with simple, direct language.
    • Combine or break up sentences to create a natural, varied rhythm.
    • Remove "serves as" dodges and "Here's the kicker" false suspense.
  4. Review: Read the final output to ensure it conveys the original message without the distinctive cadence of a large language model. It should sound like a competent human wrote it.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
