review-pubsub-components

review-pubsub-components is a skill for Claude Code from diagrid-labs/dapr-skills. It costs 68 tokens per session (1,063 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A read-only review procedure for Dapr pub/sub configuration. It examines the message-broker component settings, subscription files, retry rules, Dapr application settings, and .NET Aspire wiring.

In plain words
What is it for?
It checks secrets, encryption and authentication, dead-letter and retry settings, scopes, consumer groups, stream limits, deprecated settings, subscription ownership, application IDs, and port conflicts.
Why use it?
It exposes configuration that can send messages insecurely, route them incorrectly, retry them poorly, or make applications collide at runtime before deployment.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00068 $0.01063
Opus 5.5 $0.00027 $0.00425
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00213
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00106

Security

Grade A, and why

review-pubsub-components scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Review Dapr Pub/sub — Components and Configuration

Overview

Reviews the configuration around Dapr pub/sub: pub/sub component YAML, declarative Subscription files, Resiliency policies, dapr.yaml and the Aspire AppHost. Checks for inline secrets, unauthenticated or unencrypted brokers, dead-letter topics without retry policies, missing scopes, consumer-group and stream-limit mistakes, deprecated or mis-scoped subscriptions, the ignored isRawPayload key, and app-id or port collisions. Read-only: this skill never modifies source files. Publisher code and subscriber handler code are out of scope and are covered by review-pubsub-publishing and review-pubsub-subscriptions.

Execution Order

You MUST follow these phases in strict order. Do not load files outside the agreed scope, and do not write or edit any files.

  1. Resolve scope — Read ../dapr-shared/review-scope-prompt.md and follow it to set scope_root.
  2. Detect target — Read ../dapr-shared/review-detect-target-pubsub.md and follow it to produce language, component_files, subscription_files, resiliency_files, run_files, subscriptions and skipped. Stop with the "Nothing to review" report defined in review-report-format.md (no rule id, not counted in Found:) in either case:
    • component_files, subscription_files and resiliency_files are all empty: reason no pub/sub component files found in <scope_root>.
    • The only component found is agent-pubsub (it sits in skipped): reason only the agent-pubsub component was found, and the Next steps point to review-agent-orchestration.
  3. Load checklist — Always read ../dapr-shared/review-pubsub-components.md. The checklist is language-neutral, so there is one file for dotnet, aspire and python; apply its .NET / Aspire notes or Python notes for the detected language.
  4. Apply rules — Walk component_files, subscription_files, resiliency_files and run_files against rules DPS-CFG-001 … DPS-CFG-014, using subscriptions as context (dead-letter topics, app ids, scopes). Respect each rule's severity conditions: DPS-CFG-001 is info for a local host or an Aspire secret-parameter default, and DPS-CFG-006 is reported under Please verify.
  5. Report — Format every finding using the canonical template from ../dapr-shared/review-report-format.md. The Language: line carries the detected language. Group by severity, then rule id, then file path. Never print credential values; name the metadata key only.
  6. Show final message — Your last output is the report. Do not append a summary or next-action prompt other than the ## Next steps block defined by the report format. Clarifying questions are always allowed during the review (see the report format); once answered, the report is still your last output.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
