canon-brand-voice

canon-brand-voice is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Dragoon0x/canon. It costs 72 tokens per session (845 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for defining a product’s brand voice—the consistent personality of its writing—and its tone, which changes with the situation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to define voice attributes, write do-and-don’t examples, set tones for different contexts, and review AI-generated interface copy.
Why use it?
It prevents interface text from sounding inconsistent across screens or from using the wrong tone for success messages, errors, and onboarding.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00072 $0.00845
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00423
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00169
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00085

Security

Grade A, and why

canon-brand-voice scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CANON · Brand Voice

Voice is who you are. Tone is how you adapt to the moment. Voice stays the same across every screen; tone shifts based on context.

Voice vs tone

Voice Tone
Changes? No — consistent everywhere Yes — contextual
Example "We speak plainly and directly" Error: softer. Success: quieter. Onboarding: warmer.
Defined how 3–5 attributes with do/don't pairs Tone spectrum per context

Defining voice attributes

Pick 3–5 adjectives. For each, write a "this means" and a "this doesn't mean."

Voice attribute: Direct
This means: We say what we mean in as few words as possible.
This doesn't mean: We're rude, curt, or dismissive.

Voice attribute: Helpful
This means: Every message points to a next step.
This doesn't mean: We're patronizing or assume users are lost.

Voice attribute: Human
This means: We sound like a smart coworker, not a corporation.
This doesn't mean: We use slang, swear, or try to be funny in serious moments.

Tone spectrum

Map tone to context:

Context Tone Example
Success Quiet, matter-of-fact "Changes saved."
Error Specific, supportive "Couldn't connect — check your network and retry."
Onboarding Warm, encouraging "You're all set. Let's build something."
Destructive action Direct, clear consequences "Delete this project and all 47 files permanently."
Empty state Inviting, action-oriented "No projects yet. Create one to get started."
Loading Informative if > 2s "Setting up your workspace..."

Do/don't table template

Do Don't
"Couldn't save — connection lost" "Oops! Something went wrong!"
"Changes saved" "Success! Your changes have been saved successfully!"
"Delete project" (button label) "Yes"
"3 items moved to trash. Undo" "Are you sure you want to delete 3 items?"
Write in sentence case Write In Title Case
Front-load the information Bury the key info at the end

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
