notion

A read-only connection for fetching Notion pages and querying Notion databases. Notion is a workspace for documents, notes, and structured information.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to read pages, inspect page content, search for information, or query databases.
Why use it?
It lets an agent look up existing Notion content without changing it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00028 $0.00781
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00391
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00156
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00078

Measured 2d ago against content hash 36b120f511c9, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

notion scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Notion (Read-Only)

Read Notion pages and databases via MCP tools. This skill covers reading operations only.

Quick Reference: MCP Tools

Tool Use For
mcp__notion__notion-fetch Read page content as Notion-flavored markdown
ReadMcpResourceTool with notion://docs/enhanced-markdown-spec Get the full markdown spec (useful for understanding page structure)

Fallback: Keystone MCP Tools

If mcp__notion__notion-fetch is not available (e.g., in environments using Keystone), use these tools instead:

Tool Use For
mcp__plugin_thanx_keystone__notion_get_page Read page metadata (title, properties, dates)
mcp__plugin_thanx_keystone__notion_get_page_content Read page blocks (raw Notion API JSON)
mcp__plugin_thanx_keystone__notion_search Search for pages by title
mcp__plugin_thanx_keystone__notion_query_database Query a database with filters
mcp__plugin_thanx_keystone__notion_get_database Get database schema and metadata

The blocks API returns raw JSON. To extract readable text, parse each block's rich_text[].plain_text fields. Use ToolSearch to discover and load these tools before calling them.

Instructions

You are helping read Notion data. Use the MCP tools above for all operations.

Reading a Page

mcp__notion__notion-fetch with the page URL or ID

The tool returns Notion-flavored markdown. Key things to know about the format:

  • Code blocks have language tags (e.g., ```ruby)
  • Toggle headings use {toggle="true"} attribute
  • Toggle children are tab-indented
  • Tables use HTML <table> syntax
  • Dot-notation in text may appear auto-linked (e.g., [d.date](http://d.date))

Common Tasks

Read a specific page

Use mcp__notion__notion-fetch with the page URL.

Browse database contents

Use mcp__notion__notion-fetch on the database URL to see its schema and entries.

Diagnosing Page Issues

If a page has mangled content in the markdown output:

  • Code blocks whose content starts with heading markers (#, ##)
  • Code blocks containing <table or --- dividers
  • Wrong language tags on code blocks

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

notion is a skill published in the GitHub repository drn/dots (23 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 781 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
