aimm-scaffold

aimm-scaffold is a skill for Claude Code from DylanCodyBrown/aimm-mcp. It costs 86 tokens per session (2,305 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for building and extending AIMM, a data model for documenting SQL-based data projects. It stores project metadata such as tables, relationships, data lineage, definitions, measures, and known issues in JSON files that can be shared and reviewed like code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to set up data-model projects, document tables and relationships, record lineage and definitions, capture measures and pitfalls, and scan SQL files for joins.
Why use it?
Data models often become unclear when table meanings, joins, and business definitions are scattered across files or people's knowledge. AIMM keeps this information in a project file that teams can inspect, edit, compare, and commit to a repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00086 $0.02305
Opus 5 $0.00043 $0.01153
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00461
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00231

Security

Grade A, and why

aimm-scaffold scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AIMM scaffold

aimm-mcp is a local MCP server that stores SQL-data-model metadata in one JSON file per project: <slug>.aimm.json. Project files live in a folder of the user's choice (defaults to ~/Documents/AIMM/), so a team can keep them in a shared repo and hand-edit / diff / PR the same way they do any other code artefact.

Where state lives

~/Documents/AIMM/ ← machine-local, never moves
├── state.json which folder + which active file
├── discovered_joins.json scan output (not project state)
└── diagnostics.log ODBC query append-log

<projects_folder>/ ← configurable; defaults to ~/Documents/AIMM/
├── customer_warehouse.aimm.json one project
├── reporting_model.aimm.json another project
└── …

Every project-touching write tool reads → mutates → atomic-writes the active project file.

Session bootstrap — required before any project tool runs

Tools that read or write a project will error with "project file not selected" until an active project is set. Don't try to work around this: ask the user which project they want.

  1. Inspect the current pointer. aimm_show_active_project() returns projects_folder + active_project_file + status. Call this first.

  2. If a different projects folder is needed, ask the user where their .aimm.json files live (typically a team repo). Then: aimm_set_projects_folder({path: "/abs/path/to/folder"}). This also clears the active pointer.

  3. See what's available. aimm_list_projects() returns the filename, internal project name, and updated_at for each *.aimm.json in the folder.

  4. Pick one. aimm_set_active_project({filename: "customer_warehouse.aimm.json"}). Subsequent tool calls now read and write that file.

  5. Or create a new one. aimm_init_project({name: "Customer Warehouse", description?, dialect?}). Writes customer_warehouse.aimm.json (slug from name) into the current folder and sets it active. If the file already exists, call aimm_set_active_project instead.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
