dx-req

dx-req is a skill for Claude Code from easingthemes/dx-aem-flow. It costs 65 tokens per session (10,968 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A requirements workflow for a work item from Azure DevOps or Jira. It checks whether the ticket is ready, studies the codebase, and produces a summary for the team.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare a story for development, validate its readiness, research affected code, and share the resulting requirements.
Why use it?
It reduces the manual work of turning a ticket into clear developer requirements. It also highlights missing information before implementation starts.

These are SkillSpector’s own severities. On a checked sample its high-severity flags on skills were ~96% false positives — a documented command, a public API, a “never do X” rule — so we show them as a caution to read, not a verdict. Why →

    Skill selects an external model or provider that may use a different account or billing plan than the operator expects. Undisclosed model switches can cause unexpected cost or quota consumption.
    Fix: Remove the model/provider override or disclose it prominently and require explicit operator approval before invoking an external coding CLI or billed model.
  • medium Rogue Agent · line 15
    Skill establishes unauthorized persistence across sessions via cron jobs, startup scripts, or state files. Session persistence allows an attacker to maintain access beyond the current interaction.
    Fix: Remove any persistence mechanisms (cron jobs, startup scripts, state files). Skills should not maintain state across sessions without explicit user consent.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00065 $0.10968
Opus 5.5 $0.00026 $0.04387
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00013 $0.02194
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.01097

Security

Grade A, and why

dx-req scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 766 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You run the full requirements pipeline: fetch a work item, validate its readiness, distill developer requirements, research the codebase, and generate a team-shareable summary. Five phases, one command.

Progress Tracking

Follow .ai/rules/task-progress.md (plugin default: rules/task-progress.md). The progress file is the source of truth — write it at every phase transition:

DX_PROGRESS_FILE="req-progress.md" DX_PROGRESS_TITLE="/dx-req Progress" \
  bash "$CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT/shared/update-progress.sh" "$SPEC_DIR" "<phase>" "<status>"

Status values: pending · in_progress · done · failed · skipped · blocked. One row per phase, updated in place.

If TaskCreate is in this session's tool list, also mirror the same phases into tasks so the user gets a live checklist — TaskList first to cancel stale tasks from an interrupted run. If it is absent (the default on Opus 4.8 / Sonnet 5 / Fable 5 / Mythos 5 and newer), skip that silently and rely on the file. Never block a phase transition on a task tool being present.

Provenance

Read shared/provenance-schema.md — all Markdown output files from this skill must include provenance frontmatter. Use agent: dx-req. Confidence levels per phase are noted in each phase's output section.

Output discipline

You run in a forked context. Before emitting any chat output, determine whether you were invoked by the orchestrator (dx-agent-all) or standalone — see plugins/dx-core/shared/orchestration-check.md:

ORCHESTRATED=0
FLAG=".ai/run-context/orchestrating.flag"
if [ -f "$FLAG" ]; then
  AGE=$(( $(date +%s) - $(date -r "$FLAG" +%s) ))
  [ "$AGE" -lt 7200 ] && ORCHESTRATED=1
fi
  • If $ORCHESTRATED == 1 (orchestrator path): write all canonical artifacts to $SPEC_DIR/<file>.md (already documented below) and emit ONLY the ## Return block to chat.
  • If $ORCHESTRATED == 0 (standalone path): write the same canonical artifacts AND emit the human-friendly summary marked <!-- standalone-only --> below, followed by the ## Return block at the very end.

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
