dqmc: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/dqmc-advanced/SKILL.md

dqmc-advanced is a skill for Claude Code from edwnh/dqmc. It costs 44 tokens per session (399 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for advanced determinant quantum Monte Carlo analysis, including time-dependent measurements, maximum-entropy analytic continuation, and the structure of HDF5 result files.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when enabling unequal-time measurements, running maximum-entropy continuation, or working with DQMC queue and HDF5 internals.
Why use it?
It explains how to collect dynamical data, convert imaginary-time results into real-frequency information, and inspect stored simulation data.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00044 $0.00399
Opus 5 $0.00022 $0.00199
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00080
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00040

Security

Grade A, and why

dqmc-advanced scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Advanced Topics

Unequal-Time Measurements

Enable by setting period_uneqlt > 0 during file generation:

dqmc-util gen period_uneqlt=8 ...

Required for:

  • nnrw0, zzrw0 - Zero-frequency susceptibilities
  • dwq0t - D-wave pair susceptibility
  • Any time-dependent correlation functions

Note: Unequal-time measurements significantly increase runtime and memory usage.

Analytic Continuation

Use maximum entropy for continuing imaginary-time data to real frequencies:

from dqmc_util import maxent

# Solve G = K A given:
# - G: binned data, shape (nbin, ntau)
# - K: kernel, shape (ntau, nw)
# - m: default model, shape (nw,)
A_omega = maxent.calc_A(G, K, m)

HDF5 File Structure

/metadata/ # Model info (mu, Nx, Ny, beta)
/params/ # Simulation parameters, precomputed matrices
/state/ # RNG state, sweep number, aux field config
/meas_eqlt/    # Equal-time measurements (n_sample, sign, den, ...)
/meas_uneqlt/  # Unequal-time measurements (optional)

Queue System Internals

The sharded queue uses:

  • 128 shards to avoid lock contention on distributed filesystems
  • Atomic rename() operations for task claiming
  • Symlinks moved: todo/ -> running/ -> done/
  • Checkpointed jobs returned to todo/ for resumption
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

dqmc-advanced is a skill published in the GitHub repository edwnh/dqmc (18 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 44 tokens to every session and 399 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-01.
