neqsim-design-basis-screening

neqsim-design-basis-screening is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from equinor/neqsim-community-skills. It costs 65 tokens per session (1,083 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An educational check of whether proposed flow, pressure, and temperature design capacities leave reasonable margins above operating conditions. It can also record the design standards being considered.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compare operating and design flow, pressure, and temperature, calculate indicative margins, and note standards such as ASME, API, DNV, or NORSOK.
Why use it?
It exposes potentially small design margins early, before detailed mechanical design and engineering review are undertaken.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00065 $0.01083
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.00541
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00217
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00108

Security

Grade A, and why

neqsim-design-basis-screening scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 4 executable files (examples/basic_design_basis.py, src/design_basis_screening/__init__.py, src/design_basis_screening/model.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Design Basis Screening

Use this skill to assemble and sanity-check a screening design basis: it compares operating capacities and conditions against the proposed design capacities and conditions, computes indicative flow, pressure, and temperature margins, and flags margins below transparent public thresholds. It also echoes the design standards basis. It is intentionally simple and should guide users toward validated mechanical design, the applicable standards (ASME, API, DNV, NORSOK), and qualified engineering review.

When to Use

  • When an early concept needs a quick design-margin sanity check.
  • When an agent needs an upstream "design basis" feed for a facilities or cost-estimate screening chain.
  • When documenting the capacities and conditions a downstream model should use.

Inputs

  • operating_flow / design_flow: operating and design flow rate (same unit).
  • operating_pressure_bara / design_pressure_bara: operating and design pressure.
  • operating_temperature_c / design_temperature_c: operating and design temperature.
  • standards: optional list of design standards labels.

Outputs

  • flow_margin, pressure_margin: design/operating ratios.
  • temperature_margin_c: design minus operating temperature.
  • flow_flag, pressure_flag, temperature_flag: ok or low.
  • standards: normalized standards basis.
  • design_warning: ok or watch.
  • flags: human-readable warnings.
  • neqsim_available: whether the optional NeqSim package is importable.
  • assumptions: public assumptions and required follow-up.

Engineering Method

The skill computes simple margins: flow and pressure as design/operating ratios, temperature as a design-minus-operating difference. Each margin is compared against an indicative public threshold (default 1.10 for flow and pressure ratios, 10 C for temperature). A low flag is raised when a margin is below its threshold, and a missing standards basis is flagged. The verdict is watch when any flag is raised, otherwise ok.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

neqsim-design-basis-screening is a skill published in the GitHub repository equinor/neqsim-community-skills (2 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 65 tokens to every session and 1,083 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
