neqsim-ncs-value-chain-optimization

neqsim-ncs-value-chain-optimization is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from equinor/neqsim-community-skills. It costs 114 tokens per session (2,768 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A planning model that optimises oil and gas production across the Norwegian Continental Shelf over multiple years while respecting shared pipeline, plant, and terminal capacity. It uses a linear programming solver to show production, curtailment, spare capacity, bottlenecks, and the value of added capacity.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan production, find the most valuable debottleneck, identify fields limited by their own facilities or the network, rank possible tie-ins, and assess how much spare capacity is available over time.
Why use it?
It helps compare network-wide trade-offs instead of judging each field or pipeline in isolation. Scenarios can show how outages, price changes, capacity changes, or new field connections affect the wider system, using public screening data rather than company systems.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00114 $0.02768
Opus 5.5 $0.00046 $0.01107
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00554
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00277

Security

Grade A, and why

neqsim-ncs-value-chain-optimization scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 9 executable files (examples/ncs_value_chain_study.py, src/ncs_value_chain_optimization/__init__.py, src/ncs_value_chain_optimization/neqsim_bridge.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

NCS Value-Chain Optimisation

This skill optimises the Norwegian Continental Shelf as one system. It takes the open-data export graph from neqsim-ncs-infrastructure-network, puts supply on it for every year, and answers:

  • how much each field and discovery should produce each year to maximise value when all fields share the same trunklines, plants and terminals;
  • which elements bind, and what one more MSm3/d or Sm3/d of capacity is worth there (shadow price);
  • how an outage, capacity change, price shift or new tie-in propagates;
  • where spare capacity (ullage) opens up over time, and which discoveries use it best;
  • which producing fields could ship more, and whether the field or the network limits them.

Everything is public screening data. Governed inputs (corporate forecasts, Gassled tariffs, gas-quality specs, metered flows) enter through a scenario JSON produced by a private enterprise binding skill (a company writes its own; see the Enterprise Agent and Skill Repositories guide). This skill never reads company systems.

When to Use

  • "Maximise NCS production/value for 2026–2040 given the pipeline system."
  • "What is the most valuable debottleneck on the NCS, and when does it bind?"
  • "If Kollsnes runs at 70% in 2027, what is lost and where does gas reroute?"
  • "Which discoveries should be tied in first, into which host, and is there ullage?"
  • "Which fields could produce more today, and what limits them?"
  • Before a detailed NeqSim host process-model study: to get the rate targets the host must handle, including tie-ins.

Inputs

  • An NcsNetwork (bundled snapshot or a live rebuild).
  • A scenario (ncs_value_chain_scenario.v1, see scenario.py) with these keys:
    • years;
    • prices (gas NOK/Sm3, liquid NOK/Sm3, exit-market factors);
    • tariffs (default and per arc);
    • discount_rate;
    • capacity_overrides;
    • outages (element, years, available fraction);
    • forecast_overrides (e.g. corporate forecast per field);
    • include_discoveries, tieback_max_km, max_paths_per_entity. All have stated public defaults.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

neqsim-ncs-value-chain-optimization is a skill published in the GitHub repository equinor/neqsim-community-skills (4 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 114 tokens to every session and 2,768 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-27.
