neqsim-pipe-wall-thickness-screening

neqsim-pipe-wall-thickness-screening is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from equinor/neqsim-community-skills. It costs 69 tokens per session (1,174 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A screening calculation for the minimum wall thickness of a pressurised process pipe. It uses an open ASME B31.3 pressure-wall equation, adds a corrosion allowance, and compares the result with the nominal wall.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to estimate pressure-design wall thickness and check whether a proposed pipe schedule may be adequate. It supports early piping and pipeline design reviews.
Why use it?
It provides an early check for an under-thickness pipe without requiring project piping classes or material records. It is not a replacement for detailed mechanical design.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Security

Grade A, and why

neqsim-pipe-wall-thickness-screening scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 4 executable files (examples/basic_pipe_wall_thickness_screening.py, src/pipe_wall_thickness_screening/__init__.py, src/pipe_wall_thickness_screening/model.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Pipe Wall Thickness Screening

Use this skill for public, educational pressure-piping wall-thickness screening. It estimates the minimum pressure-design wall thickness using the open ASME B31.3 internal-pressure equation, adds a corrosion allowance, and compares the result to a nominal wall so an agent can flag piping that may be under-walled before detailed mechanical design.

When to Use

  • When a user asks whether a nominal pipe wall is adequate for a design pressure.
  • When an agent needs a quick wall-thickness triage to scope a piping or pipeline study.
  • When examples must run without confidential piping classes, project material certificates, or company piping specs.

Inputs

  • design_pressure: internal design pressure in bar gauge.
  • outer_diameter: pipe outer diameter in mm.
  • allowable_stress: allowable stress S of the material in MPa at design temperature.
  • weld_joint_factor: longitudinal weld joint quality factor E, default 1.0 (seamless).
  • coefficient_y: temperature coefficient Y, default 0.4 for ferritic steel below 482 C.
  • corrosion_allowance: corrosion and mechanical allowance in mm, default 3.0.
  • nominal_thickness: nominal wall thickness in mm for the comparison.

Outputs

  • pressure_design_thickness_mm: minimum pressure-design thickness t.
  • required_thickness_mm: t plus the corrosion allowance.
  • nominal_thickness_mm: the supplied nominal wall.
  • thickness_margin_ratio: ratio of nominal to required thickness.
  • wall_thickness_warning: ok, watch, or inadequate.
  • assumptions: public assumptions used by the placeholder model.

Engineering Method

The Python class PipeWallThicknessModel uses the open ASME B31.3 internal-pressure equation only:

  • the pressure-design thickness uses t = P D / (2 (S E W + P Y)), where W is taken as 1.0 in this screening form.
  • the required thickness adds a configurable corrosion and mechanical allowance.
  • the margin ratio compares the supplied nominal wall to the required thickness.
  • the warning is a simple rule-based label aligned with ASME B31.3 and ISO 13703 pressure-design intent.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

neqsim-pipe-wall-thickness-screening is a skill published in the GitHub repository equinor/neqsim-community-skills (4 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 69 tokens to every session and 1,174 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-19.
