neqsim-sodir-open-data

neqsim-sodir-open-data is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from equinor/neqsim-community-skills. It costs 107 tokens per session (3,170 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A read-only client for Sokkeldirektoratet, Norway's government petroleum directorate, and its open data about the Norwegian Continental Shelf. It maps questions to official tables, map layers, CSV files, and bulk files, then returns records with source details.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find and read open records by name, identifier, or map area, select the right data table, and preserve retrieval dates and provenance for screening work.
Why use it?
It provides an official, reusable source for checking wells, fields, production, licences, facilities, pipelines, surveys, and carbon-dioxide data when company data is unavailable or needs a cross-check.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00107 $0.03170
Opus 5.5 $0.00043 $0.01268
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00634
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00317

Security

Grade A, and why

neqsim-sodir-open-data scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 8 executable files (src/sodir_open_data/__init__.py, src/sodir_open_data/__main__.py, src/sodir_open_data/catalog.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Sodir Open Data (Sokkeldirektoratet)

Sodir publishes its petroleum, CO2, seabed-mineral and survey data openly under NLOD 2.0 (reuse with attribution). This skill is the single place agents learn what exists, which layer answers which question, how to read it, and the traps. Page of record: https://www.sodir.no/fakta/data-og-analyser/apne-data/ (it answers HTTP 403 to scripts - use the service hosts below, never scrape it).

When to Use

  • A task needs an official NCS fact: well, DST, formation top, field reserves, production history, owner or operator, licence, facility, pipeline, survey or CO2 storage record.
  • You must pick the right Sodir layer or table, or need a prior for a fluid or reservoir model when no PVT study exists.
  • A company data source (GeoX, PDM, SMDA) is unavailable and Sodir is the open cross-check.

Inputs

Field, discovery, well or licence name (or NPDID), an optional bounding box (WGS84), the question to answer, and the data tier required (screening only: open data never replaces PVT or governed data).

Outputs

Rows (dict per record) with the layer id, join keys and retrieval date; provenance() source list for results.json / SOURCES.md; assumptions and data_gaps for anything not open.

Engineering Method

  1. Identify the question with search() / use_case() and the layer table below.
  2. Query server-side (where, bbox, out_fields) and join on *Npdid* keys, not names.
  3. Convert dates (Europe/Oslo) and geometry (out_sr=4326), take the latest version/valid-to-null rows.
  4. Label every derived number screening, cite Sodir (NLOD 2.0) and record the gaps.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

neqsim-sodir-open-data is a skill published in the GitHub repository equinor/neqsim-community-skills (4 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 107 tokens to every session and 3,170 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-26.
