Overview

Itinerary items in Everway carry costAmount and currency. This skill rolls them up into a clear report — by category, by day, or by traveler — and is explicit about what isn't priced, so the total never quietly understates the trip.

Use this skill when: the user asks about cost, spend, or budget on a trip.

Workflow

Step 1: Load the items

Resolve the trip via list_trips, then call list_itinerary_items. Separate items with a costAmount from those without.

Step 2: Group and total

Never mix currencies in one number. Total per currency, and only convert if the user asks — labeling any conversion as approximate.

Default grouping is by category (flights, lodging, food, activities, transport, other), which answers most questions. Group by day when asked about daily spend, or by traveler using each item's attached people from list_trip_people — splitting shared items evenly unless told otherwise, and saying that's the assumption.

Step 3: Report

Rules:

• Lead with per-currency totals, then the breakdown.
• Always list unpriced items by name. That's the difference between "booked so far" and "trip total."
• Costs are per booking (a hotel item's cost is the whole stay). Per-night or per-person math should be shown as derived, with the divisor stated.

Step 4: Offer to fill in prices

If the user has amounts for unpriced items, update them via update_itinerary_item (costAmount + currency). Don't estimate prices for unpriced bookings unless asked, and label estimates clearly if you do.
