register-retry-error

register-retry-error is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from EZotoff/ez-omo-config. It costs 28 tokens per session (1,785 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of register-retry-error, MIT.

A process for adding a new error pattern to a registry of errors that can trigger an automatic retry.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to validate a regular expression, set retry counts and delays, and record who added the retry rule.
Why use it?
It ensures retry rules have a valid pattern and defined limits instead of being added inconsistently.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.01785
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00714
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00357
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00178

Security

Grade A, and why

register-retry-error scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 20d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Register Retry Error — Skill for Error Pattern Registration

Triggers: /register-retry-error, register retry error, add retry pattern

WORKFLOW

1. Accept Parameters

When invoked with /register-retry-error, request or receive:

  • pattern (required): The error message pattern to match (regex string)
  • description (required): Human-readable explanation of the error
  • max_retries (optional): Number of retries after initial attempt (default: 3)
  • backoff_ms (optional): Array of delay times in milliseconds (default: [1000, 6000, 36000])
  • retry_after_tool_execution (optional): Whether to retry even after tool execution (default: false)
  • added_by (optional): Your identifier or "operator" (default: "operator")

2. Validate Regex Pattern

Before proceeding, validate the provided pattern:

try {
  new RegExp(pattern)
} catch (e) {
  throw new Error(`Invalid regex pattern: ${e.message}`)
}

MUST: Reject invalid patterns immediately with clear error message.

3. Generate Kebab-Case ID

Create a unique id from the description:

  • Convert to lowercase
  • Replace spaces and underscores with hyphens
  • Remove special characters (keep only alphanumeric and hyphens)
  • Limit to ~50 characters
  • Ensure it matches the pattern: ^[a-z0-9]([a-z0-9-]*[a-z0-9])?$

Example:

  • "Network timeout on SSE stream" → "network-timeout-on-sse-stream"
  • "Provider Rate Limited" → "provider-rate-limited"

4. Check for Duplicates

Read the current registry file: ~/.config/opencode/retry-errors.json

MUST verify:

  • No existing entry has the same id (duplicate key)
  • No existing entry has the same pattern string (duplicate pattern)

If duplicates found, reject with reason: "Entry with id '{id}' already exists" or "Pattern already registered"

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
