timecode-bridge

A hardware and software bridge that synchronizes Meta Aria Gen 2 glasses with equipment using SMPTE Linear Timecode, a standard timing signal used by cameras, motion-capture systems, and audio equipment.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to receive timecode over BNC, transmit the timing wirelessly to Aria glasses, and read the aligned timestamps from Aria's time-domain data.
Why use it?
It provides a shared clock between the glasses and external timecoded equipment, making their recordings line up in time.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00159 $0.00696
Opus 5 $0.00079 $0.00348
Sonnet 5 $0.00032 $0.00139
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00070

Security

Grade A, and why

timecode-bridge scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Timecode Bridge

Timecode Bridge is an open-source hardware companion that lets Aria Gen 2 glasses time-align with external LTC-timecoded gear — motion capture systems, professional cameras, audio recorders, SMPTE / MTC generators. It decodes SMPTE LTC on a BNC input and re-broadcasts on the same sub-1 GHz radio protocol that Aria's built-in Time Domain Mapping (TDM) already uses.

Single source of truth for hardware, firmware, CLI, calibration, channels, and updates: https://github.com/facebookresearch/projectaria_timecode_bridge

This skill encodes only the stable concept. Fetch the repo for anything specific — board part numbers, CLI flags, channel numbers, air_delay defaults, BOM, wiring. Never guess these values.

Mental model

The glasses see no change. The Bridge simply fills the "broadcaster" role that another Aria would otherwise fill:

[LTC source] ── BNC ─► [Timecode Bridge] ── sub-GHz ─► [Aria glasses (Receiver)]

On the glasses side it is standard TDM: configure Receiver mode (via Companion App or Client SDK), match the Bridge's channel and broadcaster ID, and read the aligned timestamps out of the existing SubGHz TimeDomain in the resulting VRS. No new SDK feature, no new API, no new profile setting, no new VRS stream type.

When to answer here vs. redirect

Answer from this skill: what the Bridge is, why it exists, how it fits with the built-in glasses-to-glasses TDM, whether the glasses need new software (they do not).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

timecode-bridge is a skill published in the GitHub repository facebookresearch/projectaria-plugins (8 stars, last pushed 7d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 159 tokens to every session and 696 once invoked, about $0.0008 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
