knowledge-lint

knowledge-lint is a skill for Claude Code from flonat/flonat-research. It costs 56 tokens per session (1,554 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A quality checker for an existing project knowledge base, such as a compiled collection of notes and sources.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after compiling research knowledge or before relying on it when writing a paper section. It produces a dated review report.
Why use it?
It helps reveal contradictions, unsupported claims, outdated articles, missing links between ideas, and concepts that nothing else uses.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.01554
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00777
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00311
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00155

Security

Grade A, and why

knowledge-lint scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 182 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Knowledge Lint

Substantive consistency checks on the compiled knowledge wiki. Produces correspondence/internal-reviews/KNOWLEDGE-LINT-REPORT.md.

Output Path

Per rules/review-artefact-routing.md (auto-loads in research projects (path-scoped to paper-*/ and paper/)):

  • Source slug: knowledge-lint
  • Write reports to: reviews/_project/knowledge-lint/YYYY-MM-DD-HHMM.md inside the project. Path is relative to the research project root, not the Task-Management repo.
  • Never at project root (./CRITIC-REPORT.md-style filenames are forbidden — pre-rule layout).
  • Idempotency: if today's file exists, append a same-day descriptor ({date}-revision.md, {date}-r2.md, {date}-pre-submission.md) — never overwrite.
  • Index update: if reviews/INDEX.md exists, write a one-line entry under "Latest per source" pointing at the new file. Otherwise review-recap will rebuild the index next time it runs.
  • Infrastructure repos (Task-Management, atlas-workspace, etc.): this section does not apply — the path-scoped rule won't load there.

When to Use

  • After running compile-knowledge to verify integrity
  • Before writing a paper section to check the knowledge base is solid
  • Periodically (monthly) to catch drift
  • When switching between projects to verify knowledge is current

When NOT to Use

  • If no knowledge/ directory exists — run compile-knowledge first
  • For structural project audits — use an installed research-project audit workflow
  • For bibliography validation — use the configured bibliography validator

Pre-Check

  1. Verify knowledge/ exists and has at least 2 articles (linting a single article is pointless)
  2. If missing: "No knowledge directory found. Run compile-knowledge first."

Checks

1. Contradictions

Scan all articles for claims about the same concept that disagree:

Check How
Same concept, different claims Compare Key Findings sections across articles that share wikilinks
Method disagreements Check if two articles recommend different approaches for the same problem
Factual conflicts Cross-reference dates, numbers, definitions across articles

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

knowledge-lint is a skill published in the GitHub repository flonat/flonat-research (133 stars, last pushed 16d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 56 tokens to every session and 1,554 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
