playwright

playwright is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from fmind/dot. It costs 40 tokens per session (823 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A browser automation tool for controlling Chromium and other supported browsers in scripted tests. It can record actions, capture screenshots and PDFs, and collect traces when tests fail.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to automate browser workflows, write and run end-to-end tests, record interactions, generate screenshots or PDFs, and inspect failure traces.
Why use it?
It removes repetitive manual browser checking and provides evidence for diagnosing end-to-end test failures.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00040 $0.00823
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.00411
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00165
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00082

Security

Grade A, and why

playwright scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Playwright

Use Playwright for browser automation and end-to-end tests. Test strategy belongs to quality-assurance and interface critique to product-design-review; this skill owns the tool: browsers, commands, and the official skills.

Workflow

  1. Pin the browser: playwright install chromium; the mise binary is the global CLI, and a project pins @playwright/test with pnpm per typescript-stack. If Linux system libraries are missing, report the administrator-owned prerequisite instead of invoking the privileged install-deps command.
  2. Explore and record: playwright codegen <url> records actions into a test; playwright screenshot <url> <file> and playwright pdf <url> <file> produce review evidence.
  3. Run tests: playwright test in a project with playwright.config.ts; add --trace on when a failure needs context, then playwright show-trace <trace.zip> or playwright show-report.
  4. Expose the browser to agents: playwright mcp serves the browser over MCP per agent-mcp; playwright init-agents --loop <claude|codex|copilot|opencode> seeds planner, generator, and healer agents.
  5. Verify: a green playwright test run plus the artifact (screenshot, trace, or report) the task asked for.

Gotchas

  • Authority: a test request does not authorize reusing a logged-in browser, synchronizing cookies, entering passwords or MFA, creating accounts, bypassing CAPTCHA, accepting legal terms, making purchases, or paying for cloud browsers or tunnels; stop and ask.
  • Browser cache: binaries live in ~/.cache/ms-playwright; playwright uninstall frees them (see reclaim-disk).
  • Version skew: browsers match the Playwright version that installed them; rerun playwright install after an upgrade.
  • Headless by default: pass --headed to watch a run; keep CI headless.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

playwright is a skill published in the GitHub repository fmind/dot (4 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 40 tokens to every session and 823 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
