fused-render-theming

fused-render-theming is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from fusedio/fused-render. It costs 26 tokens per session (390 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A way to make a fused-render view follow the app's light or dark appearance. It uses one HTML attribute and supplies theme information for page styles, charts, maps, and canvases.

In plain words
What is it for?
Add light/dark support to a view or fix colours that look wrong in the opposite theme.
Why use it?
An embedded view starts as a blank page, so fixed colours can become hard to read when the app or operating system switches themes. This keeps the view aligned with those changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00026 $0.00390
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00195
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00078
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00039

Security

Grade A, and why

fused-render-theming scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Theming a view

Iframe = blank canvas (nothing injected by default), but shell follows OS light/dark with Preferences override. Pick ONE strategy; failure mode = half-following.

  1. Fixed palette — fine for strong own look (dark map, photo grid). Don't pretend to follow.
  2. Follow the app (usual right answer): data-fused-theme="shell" on <html>. Runtime writes data-theme="light"|"dark" there before stylesheet parses, keeps it in step (pin, OS flip, other-window change). Author two :root token blocks against [data-theme] + color-scheme. Built-in templates do this — SPEC.md §30 (AP-8/AP-9), any fused_render/templates/*/template.html.
  3. Follow desktop only: @media (prefers-color-scheme) around second token block, no attribute. Blind to in-app pin.
  4. Own switcher: choice in param (fused.params.set("theme", …)), drive data-theme yourself. INSTEAD of option 2, never alongside — runtime re-applies, your button loses.

Two rules making second palette work:

  • Every colour from a token. Same token set both blocks; zero colour literals elsewhere — stray hex = smear other mode can't repaint.
  • Colours handed to JS don't follow. Canvas/chart/maplibre values: read via getComputedStyle at draw time, redraw on MutationObserver over data-theme.

Never read app's own localStorage key — private, drifts. Options 2/3 give answer without it.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fused-render-theming is a skill published in the GitHub repository fusedio/fused-render (11 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 26 tokens to every session and 390 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
