hyperliquid-setup

hyperliquid-setup is a skill for Claude Code from galleonlabs/hypergrok-trading-desk. It costs 93 tokens per session (2,511 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A setup guide for using Hyperliquid, a cryptocurrency trading platform, from a desk computer. It covers installing software, choosing its test network or live network, checking access, and optionally creating a trade-only wallet.

In plain words
What is it for?
Installing Hyperliquid libraries, preparing research or testnet work, checking connectivity, and—only when requested—setting up and verifying a wallet for trades.
Why use it?
It reduces setup mistakes and makes the network choice explicit before any trading connection is used.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00093 $0.02511
Opus 5 $0.00046 $0.01256
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00502
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00251

Security

Grade B, and why

hyperliquid-setup scanned grade B with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 175 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Hyperliquid setup

Sections 1-3 are read-only and safe to run at any time. Section 4 provisions a key and is done only when the user asks to move to a testnet or mainnet desk. Section 5 is the readiness check the Execution Trader runs before its first send.

1. Networks

Mainnet Testnet
REST https://api.hyperliquid.xyz https://api.hyperliquid-testnet.xyz
WebSocket wss://api.hyperliquid.xyz/ws wss://api.hyperliquid-testnet.xyz/ws
App https://app.hyperliquid.xyz https://app.hyperliquid-testnet.xyz
Faucet - https://app.hyperliquid-testnet.xyz/drip

Reads (/info) need no key. Writes (/exchange) need a signing key and are signed differently per network, so a key and its network go together. The desk records the network in /workspace/trading-desk/desk.md and in the environment.

Testnet is the default. Nothing on the desk selects mainnet unless HYPERLIQUID_NETWORK=mainnet is set on purpose.

2. Install

Python (used by most snippets on the desk):

python3 --version                                  # 3.9+ required, 3.11+ preferred
python3 -m pip install --user --upgrade "hyperliquid-python-sdk>=0.24,<1" \
  || python3 -m pip install --break-system-packages --upgrade "hyperliquid-python-sdk>=0.24,<1"
python3 -c "import hyperliquid, eth_account; print('ok', hyperliquid.__name__)"

Optional TypeScript (if the user prefers TS or wants the WebSocket client from @nktkas/hyperliquid):

node --version                                      # 22.12+ required by @nktkas/hyperliquid (ESM-only)
mkdir -p /workspace/trading-desk/ts && cd /workspace/trading-desk/ts
[ -f package.json ] || npm init -y >/dev/null
npm pkg set type=module >/dev/null # so .js files can use import and top-level await
npm i @nktkas/hyperliquid viem
node -e "import('@nktkas/hyperliquid').then(m=>console.log('ok', Object.keys(m).length))"

curl and jq are enough for every read in hyperliquid-market-data and hyperliquid-account; install jq if missing.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

hyperliquid-setup is a skill published in the GitHub repository galleonlabs/hypergrok-trading-desk (59 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 93 tokens to every session and 2,511 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 2 findings (asks for root, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
