author-stages

author-stages is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from genudo-ai/genudo_mcp. It costs 96 tokens per session (472 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A design guide for arranging the stages of a Genudo customer pipeline, such as moving a lead from first contact to a completed or lost outcome.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to define stage names, entry rules, conversation steps, collected data, opening messages, and stage outcomes.
Why use it?
It makes each stage explicit: when someone enters, what the conversation should do, what information to collect, and when the stage is finished.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00096 $0.00472
Opus 5 $0.00048 $0.00236
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00094
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

author-stages scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Author Stages

Design each stage as one observable step in the customer journey. Don't repeat global rules (persona, generic style, generic safety) inside a stage — those live in the pipeline brain.

Before writing

Run the instruction-guides skill and follow the stage template (the 6-section structure + the token budget). Read the spec + the drafted persona/instructions from <workdir>/genudo-build/<pipeline-slug>/.

Per stage, write three fields

  • enter_condition — observable "enter when…" signals (1–2 lines). Its own field.
  • instructions — the in-stage flow: 3–6 compact steps, each "what to do + done when…". If an action/tool belongs to this stage, describe how it relates to the flow — e.g. "collect name, phone, and course; once all three are present, fire the registration action; on success, tell the customer someone will reach out." Cover required data and exit.
  • ai_persona (optional) — only if this stage must sound different from the pipeline persona.

Set nature (neutral | won | lost), order, and a short name (1–2 words). Decide the opening message (see configure-stage-opening-message) if the stage should reach out on entry.

Output

Stage per-stage files under <workdir>/genudo-build/<pipeline-slug>/stages/<order>-<name>/ (enter_condition.md, instructions.md, optional ai_persona.md). Review the full set against the QA checklist, get approval, then hand off to provision-pipeline. No account writes here.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
