editing-playbook

editing-playbook is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from genudo-ai/genudo_mcp. It costs 105 tokens per session (1,994 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A step-by-step procedure for safely changing the live instructions of a Genudo AI agent. Genudo is a system for configuring AI-agent pipelines and stages.

In plain words
What is it for?
Loading instructions, preparing a local copy, reviewing before-and-after changes, requesting confirmation, publishing edits, and recording the result.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of changing live agent behavior without reviewing the current text, checking the differences, or getting approval.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00105 $0.01994
Opus 5 $0.00053 $0.00997
Sonnet 5 $0.00021 $0.00399
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00199

Security

Grade A, and why

editing-playbook scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Genudo Instruction Editing — Workflow

You are editing the LIVE instructions of a Genudo AI agent. There is no get_instructions tool — you read current text from the normal read tools and write it back with the normal update tools. Follow this exactly. Never push to a live agent without explicit user confirmation.

The five editable fields

Field Read from Write with
pipeline persona (identity + voice) list_pipelines update_pipeline
pipeline instructions (global behaviour) list_pipelines update_pipeline
stage instructions (stage flow) list_pipeline_stages update_stage
stage enter_condition (entry condition) list_pipeline_stages update_stage
stage ai_persona (optional per-stage voice) list_pipeline_stages update_stage

Where files go

Staging root is ${ROOT}$GENUDO_WORKDIR when set, else the current directory. Every path below is relative to it.

No local filesystem (Claude Desktop / plain web chat)? Skip every file, keep the before/after inline in the chat — you still owe the user a diff and a confirmation before push. Everything else in this workflow still applies.

0. Load the guides (once per session)

  • If ${ROOT}/genudo-guides/ with these guides does NOT exist, call get_instruction_guides and write each returned guide to ${ROOT}/genudo-guides/<slug>.md. If it already exists, reuse it.
  • ALWAYS read the guides before editing.

1. Load the current instructions

  • Confirm which pipeline (and which stage[s]). Use list_pipelines to get the pipeline_id (it also returns the pipeline persona and instructions).
  • Call list_pipeline_stages(pipeline_id). For each stage it returns id, name, nature, order, instructions, enter_condition, and ai_persona.

2. Write the local mirror

The mirror is a browsable, offline copy of what the pipeline IS — someone opening the folder in Finder or an editor should understand the agent without the platform open. Write or refresh it from the data step 1 already returned, plus list_actions(pipeline_id) and list_variables(pipeline_id):

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
