hermes-webtop: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/docker-test-shell/SKILL.md

docker-test-shell is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from gitricko/hermes-webtop. It costs 14 tokens per session (1,792 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A shell tool for running commands inside a fresh, temporary Linux container with the repository mounted inside it. A container is an isolated environment used to test software separately from the host computer.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to install or run a tool, script, or command in a clean environment and check how it works without changing the host setup.
Why use it?
It prevents installed libraries, old files, and running services on the host from affecting test results. The container can then be removed after testing.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is gitricko/hermes-webtop's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on hermes-webtop itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything hermes-webtop configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is ./scripts/dts.sh up.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00014 $0.01792
Opus 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00717
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00358
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00179

Security

Grade A, and why

docker-test-shell scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Docker Test Shell (dts)

Test ANY tool inside a fresh, throwaway Linux container — never trust the host.

The one concept

Test inside a throwaway container so your own environment's installed libs, stale state, and services do not pollute the test.

That is the entire tool. No test framework, no schema, no verify primitives. Just: get me into a clean container with my repo mounted in, and let me run commands. Target logic is PLAIN SHELL composed of dts exec + bash checks.

Quickstart

# from the repo you want to test (it gets bind-mounted at /src)
./scripts/dts.sh up
./scripts/dts.sh exec "bash /src/install.sh"
./scripts/dts.sh exec "my-tool --version"
./scripts/dts.sh clean

For convenience, add the script dir to PATH or alias dts:

export PATH="$PWD/scripts:$PATH"   # or symlink dts.sh -> /usr/local/bin/dts

Commands

Command Job
dts up Create container (fresh base, repo bind-mounted at /src, uid-1000 user). Installs NOTHING.
dts exec "<cmd>" Run <cmd> inside the container as the uid-1000 user, bash -l. TTY-aware.
dts apt "<pkgs>" Run apt-get update && install -y <pkgs> as ROOT. The one privileged path (apt needs root; normal user can't).
dts shell Drop into an interactive shell (-it). For a human at a terminal.
dts clean Remove the container (no orphans).
dts status Show container state + note the mount is present.

When to use dts exec vs raw docker exec

Scenario Use Why Notes
Normal test commands (build, version check, API call) dts exec Runs as uid-1000, bash -l, -i no -t — matches CI/Codespace parity
Install apt packages (apt-get install) dts apt Dedicated root path; apt needs root, uid-1000 can't
Debug interactively (human at terminal) dts shell -it gives full interactive TTY
One-off root inspection (logs, sqlite, config files) docker exec -u 0:0 dts-test <cmd> Root-only operations outside apt; explicit docker exec -u 0:0 signals intent
Multi-step stateful commands from a script dts exec with piped stdin printf 'cmd1\ncmd2\n' | dts exec bash — stdin stays open, runs sequentially

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

docker-test-shell is a skill published in the GitHub repository gitricko/hermes-webtop (28 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 14 tokens to every session and 1,792 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-05.
