paper-agent: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/paper-annotation-reviser/SKILL.md

paper-annotation-reviser is a skill for Claude Code from Guo-Chenxu/paper-agent. It costs 53 tokens per session (1,285 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A revision workflow for turning comments in an annotated academic PDF into checked changes in LaTeX source files. It also looks for similar issues throughout the paper.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to extract PDF annotations, revise TeX files, apply related fixes across a paper, and preserve recurring writing issues for later checks.
Why use it?
It prevents revisions from being limited to the exact sentences a reviewer marked when the same problem may occur elsewhere.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00053 $0.01285
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00642
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00257
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00128

Security

Grade A, and why

paper-annotation-reviser scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Paper Annotation Reviser

Overview

Turn an annotated paper PDF into a verifiable TeX revision workflow. Core principle: annotations are not merely local sentence-level TODOs; they are samples that reveal similar issues across the whole paper.

REQUIRED SUB-SKILL: Use pdf-annotation-extractor to extract or read PDF annotations.

When To Use

  • The user provides an annotated paper PDF and asks to revise .tex / LaTeX source files.
  • The user asks to "revise the paper according to annotations", "do not only fix annotated locations", or "check the whole paper for similar issues".
  • The user wants to preserve writing issues identified in annotations for later reuse by ai-detector.

Do not use this for plain text polishing without PDF annotations. For those tasks, prefer normal editing or ai-detector.

Workflow

1. Extract or read annotations

  1. If no annotation file already exists, invoke pdf-annotation-extractor to generate Markdown and, when needed, JSON as well.
  2. If *_annotations.md or *_annotations.json already exists, read the existing file and spot-check whether the PDF/annotation summary matches.
  3. Record the annotation count, page numbers, annotation types, source text snippets, and comment content.

2. Build an annotation-to-TeX location table

For each actionable annotation, build a table:

Annotation PDF Page Selected Text TeX Location Action
ID page number short excerpt from annotated text path/to/file.tex:line or unmatched revise / ignore / ask

When locating text, account for differences between PDF and TeX: line breaks, hyphenation, TeX commands, math symbols, citation commands, and escaped characters. If a location cannot be found, do not guess-edit; mark it as unmatched and explain why.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
