limitations-ethics-writer

limitations-ethics-writer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Haohaha-11/Paper-Writing. It costs 0 tokens per session (675 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A writing aid for stating a research paper’s limits, ethical concerns, broader effects, and medical or privacy caveats. It checks whether the claims fit the data, testing, and real-world scope.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before submission or public release to review limitations, ethics statements, data provenance, privacy constraints, and plans for sharing code or data.
Why use it?
It helps prevent overgeneralized conclusions and makes important issues such as consent, privacy, missing validation, and failure cases explicit.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00675
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00338

Security

Grade A, and why

limitations-ethics-writer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Limitations Ethics Writer

Purpose

Draft or revise Limitations, Ethics, Broader Impact, and medical/privacy caveats so that the paper is honest about scope and compliant with venue expectations.

When To Use

  • Before submission to venues requiring limitations, ethics, or reproducibility statements.
  • For medical-imaging papers with privacy, consent, IRB, or clinical-scope concerns.
  • After claim-evidence auditing identifies overbroad claims.
  • Before arXiv release of a public version.

Inputs

Required:

  • target venue;
  • claim-evidence matrix;
  • datasets and data provenance;
  • known failure modes;
  • code/data release plan;
  • human/clinical/privacy constraints when applicable.

Optional:

  • model card or datasheet;
  • IRB/consent/de-identification notes;
  • compute/resource usage;
  • societal impact notes.

Procedure

  1. List claims that require scope limits.
  2. Identify dataset, benchmark, demographic, modality, and protocol limitations.
  3. Identify evaluation limitations such as missing external validation, reader studies, or deployment testing.
  4. State ethical/privacy constraints without revealing anonymous identities.
  5. Distinguish limitations from future work.
  6. Make the section concrete and concise; avoid generic disclaimers.
  7. Ensure Abstract/Conclusion do not contradict the limitations.

Rubric

Dimension Strong Weak
Specificity Names actual limits Generic "more work needed"
Claim alignment Limits match strong claims Limitations unrelated to claims
Ethics Data/privacy/consent handled Ethical issues ignored
Honesty Acknowledges missing validation Hides core weaknesses
Usefulness Helps reviewers assess scope Boilerplate only

Venue Adaptation

  • ICLR/NeurIPS/ICML: include limitations, reproducibility, societal impact, and data/model release caveats where required.
  • CVPR/ECCV: discuss dataset bias, visual failure cases, annotation quality, and deployment risks.
  • AAAI: comply with AI policy and broader impact expectations.
  • TMI: address patient privacy, consent/IRB, de-identification, clinical validation, population/site/scanner generalization, and conference-extension disclosure.
  • arXiv: remove anonymous-review-only text and ensure public claims remain scoped.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

limitations-ethics-writer is a skill published in the GitHub repository Haohaha-11/Paper-Writing (3 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 675 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
