paper-redteam

paper-redteam is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Haohaha-11/Paper-Writing. It costs 0 tokens per session (951 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A pre-submission review for research papers, modeled on the checks real conference or journal reviewers may make. It examines technical correctness, novelty, evidence, and presentation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to judge whether a paper is ready, review a major rewrite, or prepare for a rebuttal. It can assess methods, related work, experiments, reproducibility, writing, and venue requirements.
Why use it?
It helps reveal decision-critical weaknesses before submitting to venues such as ICLR, NeurIPS, or arXiv. The result includes a plan for fixing problems rather than only general comments.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00951
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00476
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00190
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00095

Security

Grade A, and why

paper-redteam scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Paper Redteam

Purpose

Simulate a serious pre-submission review before real reviewers see the paper. This skill should be strict, evidence-grounded, and useful: it should expose decision-critical weaknesses and produce a fix plan, not just generic feedback.

When To Use

  • Before submitting to ICLR, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ECCV, AAAI, TMI, or arXiv.
  • After major rewrites.
  • Before rebuttal planning.
  • When deciding whether a paper is ready or needs another evidence pass.

Inputs

Required:

  • target venue and year;
  • paper context;
  • available draft sections;
  • venue checklist;
  • claim-evidence matrix or enough draft text to create one.

Recommended:

  • novelty-scout report;
  • related-work search results;
  • experiment tables;
  • limitation section;
  • anonymization status.

Reviewer Roles

  • R1 Technical: correctness, method clarity, assumptions, algorithms, theorem/proof details.
  • R2 Novelty: related work, positioning, contribution strength, overlap risks.
  • R3 Evidence: experiments, baselines, metrics, ablations, statistics, reproducibility.
  • R4 Presentation: abstract, introduction, figures, writing clarity, organization, page pressure.
  • AC Meta Review: decision-critical synthesis, venue fit, desk-reject risks, fix prioritization.

Procedure

  1. Load venue rules. Check page/anonymity/template/checklist constraints first. Desk-reject risks should not be mixed with ordinary writing advice.

  2. Run evidence audit. If no claim-evidence matrix exists, create a compact one for title, abstract, introduction, and results.

  3. Run novelty/related-work check. Use novelty-scout or mark novelty evidence missing.

  4. Review by role. Each reviewer should produce strengths, major weaknesses, minor weaknesses, questions, and required fixes.

  5. Separate fatal, major, and minor issues. Fatal issues block submission. Major issues affect likely review outcome. Minor issues improve clarity.

  6. Produce fix plan. Rank by decision impact and effort.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

paper-redteam is a skill published in the GitHub repository Haohaha-11/Paper-Writing (3 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 951 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
