agentic-engineering

agentic-engineering is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from hashgraph-online/awesome-codex-plugins. It costs 24 tokens per session (358 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of agentic-engineering, Apache-2.0.

An operating method for coding agents that defines completion checks first, breaks work into small verifiable tasks, chooses model tiers by difficulty, and measures results with evaluations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan agent-driven engineering work, run baseline and regression evaluations, divide tasks, and review generated code for edge cases.
Why use it?
It gives agent-led implementation a repeatable process for controlling quality, risk, and model cost.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00024 $0.00358
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00179
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00072
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

agentic-engineering scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Agentic Engineering

Use this skill for engineering workflows where AI agents perform most implementation work and humans enforce quality and risk controls.

Operating Principles

  1. Define completion criteria before execution.
  2. Decompose work into agent-sized units.
  3. Route model tiers by task complexity.
  4. Measure with evals and regression checks.

Eval-First Loop

  1. Define capability eval and regression eval.
  2. Run baseline and capture failure signatures.
  3. Execute implementation.
  4. Re-run evals and compare deltas.

Task Decomposition

Apply the 15-minute unit rule:

  • each unit should be independently verifiable
  • each unit should have a single dominant risk
  • each unit should expose a clear done condition

Model Routing

  • Haiku: classification, boilerplate transforms, narrow edits
  • Sonnet: implementation and refactors
  • Opus: architecture, root-cause analysis, multi-file invariants

Session Strategy

  • Continue session for closely-coupled units.
  • Start fresh session after major phase transitions.
  • Compact after milestone completion, not during active debugging.

Review Focus for AI-Generated Code

Prioritize:

  • invariants and edge cases
  • error boundaries
  • security and auth assumptions
  • hidden coupling and rollout risk

Do not waste review cycles on style-only disagreements when automated format/lint already enforce style.

Cost Discipline

Track per task:

  • model
  • token estimate
  • retries
  • wall-clock time
  • success/failure

Escalate model tier only when lower tier fails with a clear reasoning gap.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

agentic-engineering is a skill published in the GitHub repository hashgraph-online/awesome-codex-plugins (956 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 24 tokens to every session and 358 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. It is 92% identical to agentic-engineering, differing in 25 lines, and is treated as a copy.
