Getting it into your agent
It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00068 | $0.03028 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00034 | $0.01514 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00014 | $0.00606 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00007 | $0.00303 |
Grade A, and why
desk scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 335 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
PREREQUISITE: Read
../../SKILL.md(two directories up from this file) first. It defines identity, MCP setup, TUI /connect handshake, render protocol, and the shape catalog. This file handles only the sub-skill-specific flow.
Desk - Quick Market Snapshot
30 seconds. One thing the floor needs to know.
The fastest sub-skill. 3–5 MCP calls. Under 5 seconds. No depth questions, no focus questions, no theme questions. Just data.
Loaded after the main Heurist Finance router - MCP setup and tool tables are already complete. All tools use the mcp__heurist-finance__ prefix.
Desk Posture
Lead with the single most important thing happening right now. Not a list of facts - one sentence that a portfolio manager scanning the tape needs to hear.
No equivocation. If nothing matters, say "quiet tape, nothing actionable."
Entry Logic
args contain a ticker or company name?
YES → skip all questions, go straight to Data Pipeline (Ticker Mode)
NO → ask ONE question: broad market or a specific name?
→ branch on answer
That is the only question ever asked. No depth. No focus. No theme.
User Impatience Protocol
If the user says anything that makes intent clear ("just show me the market", "what's NVDA at", "quick check"): skip the question entirely and go. The whole point of Desk is zero friction.
Session Memory
Before any MCP calls: read ~/.heurist/sessions/*.json. Filter by
sub_skill === "desk". Sort by timestamp descending, take last 5. Note
prior market pulse for comparison ("yesterday: bullish, today: risk-off").
First run (no sessions dir): skip silently.
Data Pipeline
Voice reminder: Between phases, if you speak to the user, it's a finding - not a status update. Never narrate what you're fetching.
Ticker Mode (3 calls)
Run all in parallel after resolving the symbol:
mcp__heurist-finance__yahoofinanceagent_resolve_symbol- get canonical symbol + namemcp__heurist-finance__yahoofinanceagent_quote_snapshot- price, change, volume, market capmcp__heurist-finance__yahoofinanceagent_technical_snapshot- RSI, MACD, signals
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

desk is a skill published in the GitHub repository heurist-network/heurist-finance (10 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 68 tokens to every session and 3,028 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
