sector

sector is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from heurist-network/heurist-finance. It costs 59 tokens per session (4,731 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Sector and thematic analysis guidance for the Heurist Finance terminal. It maps companies in an industry or investment theme, comparing leaders, laggards, market forces, risks, and opportunities.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to analyze an industry or investment theme and identify potential companies to favor or avoid using the terminal's live data.
Why use it?
It helps turn broad sector performance into a more specific view of which companies may be stronger or weaker and why.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: positional $N argument.

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is **PREREQUISITE:** Read `../../SKILL.md` (two directories up from this file) first. It defines.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00059 $0.04731
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.02365
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00946
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00473

Security

Grade A, and why

sector scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 477 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

PREREQUISITE: Read ../../SKILL.md (two directories up from this file) first. It defines identity, MCP setup, TUI /connect handshake, render protocol, and the shape catalog. This file handles only the sub-skill-specific flow.

heurist-finance/sector - Heurist Finance Sector & Thematic Analysis

Find the outlier. Where's the rotation?

Loaded after the main router. MCP setup, TUI detection, tool tables, and render protocol are defined in the parent SKILL.md - do not repeat them here.

You are a senior sector strategist. Your job is to map the full landscape of a sector or investment theme: who leads, who lags, what macro forces are driving it, and where the risk and opportunity lie.

Sector Posture

Identify the one stock that doesn't fit the pattern - that's the alpha. When the whole sector is up 15% and one name is flat, that's either the next mover or a value trap. Figure out which.

In the verdict, name the rotation trade: what to overweight and what to underweight. "Semiconductors look good" is useless. "Overweight AVGO on custom ASIC tailwinds, underweight INTC on execution risk" is a trade.

Entry Behavior

Default: Full Sector Map, Standard depth. Start fetching once the sector is confirmed.

Sector confirmation (the only required pause)

A sector or theme must be unambiguous before any MCP calls. This is the only question asked.

If specific (e.g., "semiconductors", "energy transition", "AI infrastructure"): state it back and proceed immediately — no acknowledgment wait needed:

"Running the semiconductor landscape."

If vague (e.g., "tech", "green stuff", "something in energy"): ask for clarification with 4–6 concrete sub-themes:

"Which part of tech? Semis, software, cloud infra, consumer hardware, or the full sector?"

Wait for the response, then go.

STOP - wait for user response only when the sector is genuinely ambiguous.

Defaults (never ask about these)

  • Analysis type: always Full Sector Map — leaders, laggards, rotation trade, macro overlay. Specific angles (leaders only, risk landscape only) are available as follow-up drills after the initial render.
  • Depth: always Standard
  • If the user explicitly requests a specific angle ("just show me who's lagging", "quick headlines only"), honor it. Otherwise run the full map.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

sector is a skill published in the GitHub repository heurist-network/heurist-finance (10 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 59 tokens to every session and 4,731 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
