Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00116 | $0.01116 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00058 | $0.00558 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00023 | $0.00223 |

Grade A, and why
arxiv-research scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 86 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
arXiv research
You have an arxiv MCP server for interacting with arXiv. Use its tools instead
of web-scraping arxiv.org. The server handles rate-limiting, caching, and text
extraction for you — your job is to query well and read economically.
Core workflow
- Open a session for any multi-step task:
start_session(session_id="<task-slug>"). Pass that samesession_idto every subsequent call. This pins fetched papers so nothing refetches across your calls, and protects them from cache eviction mid-task. Callend_sessionwhen done. - Search with
search_papersto discover candidates. - Read with
read_paper(paginated) when you need a paper's contents. - Download with
download_paperonly if the user wants the raw file.
search_papers — construct good queries
Prefer the structured shortcuts (they're AND-combined and escaped for you):
category="cs.LG"→cat:cs.LG(uselist_categoriesto find valid codes)author="Yann LeCun"→ quoted author matchtitle="attention is all you need"→ title phraseabstract="retrieval augmented"→ abstract phrase
For anything more complex, pass a raw query in arXiv field syntax:
- Fields:
ti:au:abs:cat:co:jr:all: - Booleans:
ANDORANDNOT(it isANDNOT, neverNOT) - Phrase:
ti:"quantum criticality" - Example:
query='au:hinton AND cat:cs.LG ANDNOT ti:"reinforcement learning"'
Sorting & paging:
sort_by:relevance(default),submittedDate(newest research),lastUpdatedDate.sort_order:descending/ascending.- "Latest N papers on X" →
sort_by="submittedDate", sort_order="descending". max_results≤ 2000 per call; page deeper withstart(total window 30000).- Read
total_resultsto decide whether to page further.
Keep max_results small (10–25) unless the user asked for a broad sweep — it's
faster and kinder to arXiv.
get_paper — one id, full metadata
get_paper(paper_id="2401.12345"). Accepts any id form: bare, arXiv: prefix,
arxiv.org/abs/... URL, old-style hep-th/9901001, or a 10.48550/arXiv...
DOI. Served from cache when possible.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

arxiv-research is a skill published in the GitHub repository Himasnhu-AT/arxiv-mcp (1 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 116 tokens to every session and 1,116 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
