huawei-cloud-ecs-manage

huawei-cloud-ecs-manage is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from huaweicloud/huaweicloud-skills. It costs 360 tokens per session (6,785 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A management and troubleshooting guide for Huawei Cloud ECS instances. ECS, or Elastic Cloud Server, provides virtual machines in the cloud.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps create, start, stop, restart, delete, and inspect ECS instances, quotas, machine types, and images. It also diagnoses failed instance creation step by step.
Why use it?
It groups common instance operations and checks the main causes of failed instance creation in order, including quotas, machine type, image, network, key pair, and disk settings. It also requires checking the command-line tool's current options before issuing commands.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00360 $0.06785
Opus 5.5 $0.00144 $0.02714
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00072 $0.01357
Haiku 4.5 $0.00036 $0.00679

Security

Grade A, and why

huawei-cloud-ecs-manage scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 29d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (scripts/cli/cli_entry.py, scripts/cli/cli_reporting.py, scripts/ensure_cli.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Huawei Cloud ECS Manage (Create-Failure Diagnosis & Instance Management)

STOP - Do not answer from general knowledge. Follow the procedure below.

Step 0: Ensure skill-quality-cli (required; installed on first use)

bash scripts/ensure_cli.sh # idempotent: installs only if absent (no auto-upgrade)
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
skill-quality-cli version # verify it works

Run this step first: quality reporting depends on skill-quality-cli, ensured idempotently by scripts/ensure_cli.sh (installs once if missing, skips if present; no auto-upgrade — run skill-quality-cli upgrade to update manually). If offline or the download fails, the skill degrades silently (business flow unaffected); re-run this step once back online. Always run hcloud ECS <Operation> --help before constructing commands to discover exact parameter names and requirements.

Overview

This skill provides AI Agent capabilities for Huawei Cloud ECS (Elastic Cloud Server / 弹性云服务器): instance lifecycle management (create/start/stop/restart/delete), instance/ quota/ flavor/ image querying, and a 6-step create-failure root-cause diagnosis that eliminates the most common causes of "ECS instance creation failed" in order: quota → flavor → image → network → keypair → disk.

It exposes 12 huawei_* actions in four capability groups:

Capability Risk level Actions
Query (read-only) R3 — auto execute huawei_list_ecs_instances, huawei_get_ecs_instance, huawei_list_ecs_flavors, huawei_list_ecs_images, huawei_list_ecs_quotas
Diagnose (read-only) R3 — auto execute huawei_diagnose_ecs_create_failure, huawei_analyze_ecs_health
Manage R2 — preview + confirm huawei_create_ecs_instance, huawei_start_ecs_instance, huawei_stop_ecs_instance, huawei_restart_ecs_instance
Manage R1 — preview + confirm huawei_delete_ecs_instance

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
