HumanLayer is a software system that runs coding agents on a team’s machines and coordinates their tasks, sessions, plans, and reviews through desktop and web apps. Its Turborepo monorepo contains the user interfaces, host daemon, API, command-line tools, synchronization services, and agent plugins. The catalogue entries provide skills, plugins, instructions, and settings for its coding-agent workflows.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00049 | $0.00340 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00020 | $0.00136 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00010 | $0.00068 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00005 | $0.00034 |
Grade A, and why
orchestrate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
What it actually says
Find the job, read its reference, run the commands, and report the result in a line or two.
| Job | Reference |
|---|---|
| Log in | login.md |
| Find a host | hosts.md |
| Launch a task | launch-task.md |
| Turn auto-advance between phases on or off | auto-advance.md |
| Launch a session | launch-session.md |
| List tasks and statuses | list-tasks.md |
| Find a task's PR | task-prs.md |
| Upload, copy, move, or delete artifacts | managing-artifacts-and-files.md |
Rules:
- Every task gets its own worktree. Use an existing folder only when the user asks.
- Use one environment flag everywhere: none for production,
--beta, or--dev. The references use--dev. - On
Not logged in, follow login.md and retry. - Save large results to a file before reading them with
jq. - On an unknown command or flag, run
humanlayer --dev api <group> <command> --help.
What ships with it
8 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

orchestrate is a skill published in the GitHub repository humanlayer/humanlayer (11,717 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 49 tokens to every session and 340 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-23.
Other skills, from other repositories
jira-release
Assemble a release from a batch of Jira issues — one release branch, pull request, preview and tracking issue per repository — and, when a person says to ship it, merge it and move the cards on. Insert into the prompt of a run started on a batch of issues.
pod-init
Initialize CocoPlus project bundle in the current directory. Creates .cocoplus/ directory structure, copies all templates, initializes AGENTS.md, project.md, flow.json, and creates the initial git commit. Run this once per project before using any other CocoPlus command.
github-operations
GitHub CLI operations for issues, PRs, milestones, and Projects v2. Covers gh commands, REST API patterns, and automation scripts. Use when managing GitHub issues, PRs, milestones, or Projects with gh.
herdr-kit-workflows
Set up and operate Herdr Kit safely: install and configure the plugin and Mastra Code integration, manage Review and Work repository scope, open primary repository workspaces, synchronize managers, materialize or dematerialize managed worktrees, and update Herdr Kit settings or shortcuts.
herdr-manager-query
Query the authoritative global Herdr Review and Work Manager inventory, recommend actionable PR work, and explicitly materialize confirmed remote-only Review Manager records through the plugin's stable public CLI.
github-triage
Triage GitHub issues through a label-based state machine with interactive grilling sessions. Use when user wants to triage issues, review incoming bugs or feature requests, prepare issues for an AFK agent, or manage issue workflow.
