pipeline-standards

pipeline-standards is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ibm-self-serve-assets/building-blocks. It costs 64 tokens per session (2,185 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A rulebook for writing UFC insight pipelines, including their file structure, calculations, evidence records, rankings, and compliance checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building or reviewing UFC insight pipelines and checking that they follow the required coding standards.
Why use it?
It keeps pipeline code consistent and helps prevent required implementation details from being missed.

    Skill enumerates or reads other installed skills. Access to other skills' SKILL.md files or the skills directory reveals prompt instructions, capabilities, and secrets that should be invisible to peer skills.
    Fix: Remove all code or instructions that list or read other skills' files or directories. Skills should operate independently; cross-skill access is a privilege escalation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00064 $0.02185
Opus 5.5 $0.00026 $0.00874
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00437
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00218

Security

Grade A, and why

pipeline-standards scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

UFC Pipeline Coding Standards

This document is the single source of truth for all backend service pipeline code standards. It is referenced by .bob/skills/sdd-pipeline-builder/SKILL.md during code generation.

1. Required File Structure (in order)

# 1. Imports + warnings suppression + logging setup
import warnings, logging, utils, pandas as pd
from typing import List, Dict, Any, Optional, Tuple
warnings.filterwarnings("ignore")
logging.basicConfig(level=logging.INFO,
    format='%(asctime)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s', datefmt='%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S')

# 2. Environment shim
def init_environment():
    """Compatibility shim — delegates to utils.init_pipeline_environment()."""
    return utils.init_pipeline_environment()

# 3. UPPER_SNAKE_CASE constants (the ONLY allowed module-level names)
STAT_THRESHOLDS = { ... }       # if stat-based
MIN_FIGHTS_FOR_INSIGHT = 5
TOP_N_RANKINGS = 5
BASE_INSIGHT_SCORE = 100
PRESTIGE_PENALTY = 5
THRESHOLD_PENALTY = 3           # if applicable
INSIGHT_TYPE = "Pipeline Name"

# 4. Core metric/calculation functions
# 5. get_top_{metric}_for_group() + find_fighter_ranking()
# 6. calculate_insight_score()
# 7. _build_llm_system_and_user()
# 8. generate_insight_heading_deterministic()
# 9. generate_insight_heading()
# 10. _build_facts_object()
# 11. generate_insights()       ← always the last function

2. Imports

  • Backend services: import utils (resolves to backend/utils.py)
  • Never use import experimental.utils
  • No variables declared outside functions — only UPPER_SNAKE_CASE constants are permitted at module level

3. Prestige Ranking System

Seven ranks, 1 = most prestigious:

Rank Scope
1 Among all fighters (UFC history)
2 Among a gender class
3 Among active fighters
4 Among active fighters in gender class
5 Among a weight class division
6 Among active fighters in a weight class division
7 Career class
  • Get groups: utils.get_standard_ranking_groups()
  • Filter per group: utils.filter_fighter_data_by_group(fighter_data, group)
  • Select best: utils.find_best_ranking(all_rankings) — picks lowest prestige_rank, then lowest rank
  • Use ranking_cache param in get_top_*_for_group() to avoid recomputing the same leaderboard

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

pipeline-standards is a skill published in the GitHub repository ibm-self-serve-assets/building-blocks (28 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 64 tokens to every session and 2,185 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
