my-skill

A template for creating a coding-agent skill with a description, authentication instructions, tools, inputs, outputs, and usage tips. It is an example structure rather than a fully defined working skill.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it as a skeleton when designing a new skill with scripts or another executable tool. More details would be needed to describe a particular task it performs.
Why use it?
It gives authors a starting format for documenting how a skill should work. The supplied description does not define a specific real capability beyond that template.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Made for: Claude Code, Codex.

Per session 12 Skills are progressive disclosure: only the name and description are preloaded; the body loads when the skill is used.
When invoked 545 The whole file, excluding the scripts and references it only reads on demand.
Security scan A 1 finding. Scan, not verified.
Origin original No closer match found in the catalogue.
Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00012 $0.00545
Opus 5 $0.00006 $0.00272
Sonnet 5 $0.00002 $0.00109
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00055

Measured yesterday against content hash 7d388492cb93, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

my-skill scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

My Skill

Brief description of the skill's purpose, capabilities, and intended audience.

Authentication

Describe how credentials are obtained and configured.

export MY_API_KEY="your-key-here"

Quick Start

Script-backed execution

Place executable scripts in scripts/. The tool name maps to the script: underscores in the tool name become hyphens in the filename.

Example: tool my_searchscripts/my-search.sh

./scripts/my-search.sh '{"query": "hello"}'

Binary-backed execution

If the skill delegates to a compiled binary instead, delete the scripts/ directory entirely and document the binary in requires.bins above.

Tool: my_tool

Short description of what this tool does.

Input:

Parameter Type Required Description
query string yes The search query
max_results integer no Maximum results (1-20). Default: 5

Output: JSON object with results array of {title, url, content, score}.

Response Format

{
  "results": [
    {
      "title": "Example",
      "url": "https://example.com",
      "content": "Relevant snippet...",
      "score": 0.95
    }
  ]
}

Tips

  • Tip 1 for effective usage
  • Tip 2 for edge cases

Safety Constraints

Document any safety rules this skill enforces (read-only, no secrets, etc.).

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

my-skill is a skill published in the GitHub repository initializ/forge (156 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 12 tokens to every session and 545 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
