escalation-routing

escalation-routing is a skill for Claude Code from ivegamsft/basecoat. It costs 45 tokens per session (305 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for sending high-risk or irreversible decisions to a human approver and recording the decision in a GitHub pull request comment. It packages the risk, recommendation, approver, and available choices.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for release signoff, compliance gates, risky changes, or pull requests that require explicit approval before merging or releasing.
Why use it?
Routine automation should not silently make compliance-sensitive or irreversible decisions. A written approval trail shows who reviewed the choice and what was agreed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.00305
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00152
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00061
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00030

Security

Grade A, and why

escalation-routing scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Escalation Routing Skill

Use this skill to package high-risk decisions for human approval with a durable trail in GitHub.

Reference Files

File Purpose
references/approval-packet-template.md Structured decision packet and PR-comment approval template

When to Route

Route the decision when the work is:

  • High-risk, irreversible, or compliance-sensitive
  • Ambiguous enough that a human must choose between valid options
  • A PR that needs explicit sign-off before merge or release
  • A change that needs a traceable approval record in GitHub

Expected Output

Return two artifacts:

  1. A structured approval packet with the risk, recommendation, approver, and options
  2. A PR-comment approval request that a human can answer in-thread
  • skills/human-in-the-loop — explicit human judgment and approval gates
  • skills/decision-log-capture — durable decision records with rationale and follow-up actions
Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
