accessibility

accessibility is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from JakubMikolajek/codex-skills-collection. It costs 91 tokens per session (3,322 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Guidance for building and checking web interfaces that people with disabilities can use, following WCAG 2.1 AA, a widely used accessibility standard.

In plain words
What is it for?
It supports accessible modals, menus, forms, tabs, carousels, error messages, and changing page content, including keyboard behavior, focus handling, and screen-reader support.
Why use it?
It helps prevent interfaces from failing for keyboard users, screen-reader users, or people who need sufficient color contrast. It also gives a consistent way to review accessibility before release.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Good fit It supports accessible modals, menus, forms, tabs, carousels, error messages, and changing page content, including keyboard behavior, focus handling, and screen-reader support.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00091 $0.03322
Opus 5 $0.00046 $0.01661
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00664
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00332

Security

Grade A, and why

accessibility scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)

Accessibility is not a checklist — it is a design constraint. This skill provides the depth needed to implement and audit WCAG 2.1 AA compliance in web UI components.

When to Use

  • Implementing any interactive UI component (modal, menu, combobox, tab panel, carousel)
  • Auditing existing UI for accessibility issues before a release
  • Reviewing a PR that touches interactive UI
  • Implementing forms, error messages, or dynamic content updates
  • A screen reader or keyboard navigation test reveals failures

When NOT to Use

  • Backend-only tasks with no HTML/DOM output
  • Basic static content pages with no interactive components — frontend-implementation is sufficient
  • Native mobile accessibility (SwiftUI/UIKit has its own a11y model — see swiftui)

WCAG 2.1 AA — Four Principles

Everything traces back to POUR:

  • Perceivable — information presented in ways users can perceive
  • Operable — UI components operable by all input methods
  • Understandable — content and operation understandable
  • Robust — content interpretable by assistive technologies

AA conformance requires meeting all Level A and Level AA success criteria.

Accessibility Process

Accessibility progress:
- [ ] Step 1: Semantic structure and landmark regions
- [ ] Step 2: Keyboard navigation and focus management
- [ ] Step 3: ARIA roles, states, and properties
- [ ] Step 4: Color contrast and visual presentation
- [ ] Step 5: Forms and error handling
- [ ] Step 6: Dynamic content and live regions
- [ ] Step 7: Test with keyboard, axe, and screen reader

Step 1: Semantic structure and landmark regions

Landmark regions give screen reader users the ability to jump to major sections:

<header role="banner">          <!-- site header -->
<nav aria-label="Main navigation">
<main>                          <!-- primary content — one per page -->
<aside aria-label="Related articles">
<footer role="contentinfo">

Document structure rules:

  • One <main> per page — never zero, never two
  • Heading hierarchy: h1h2h3 — never skip levels
  • One h1 per page, describing the page purpose
  • <section> and <article> need accessible names (aria-labelledby pointing to a heading inside them)
  • Don't use <div> or <span> for interactive elements — use <button>, <a>, <input>

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

accessibility is a skill published in the GitHub repository JakubMikolajek/codex-skills-collection (5 stars, last pushed 7d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 91 tokens to every session and 3,322 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
