local-video-assembly

local-video-assembly is a skill for Codex from jeremylongworth-source/AgentSkills. It costs 70 tokens per session (1,000 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A local workflow for assembling and checking video files with FFmpeg, a command-line media tool, and ffprobe, a tool that inspects media details. It covers images, slides, narration, captions, audio, and MP4 exports.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for creating narrated explainers and other review-ready videos, including subtitle burning, audio normalization, render manifests, and export validation.
Why use it?
It turns scattered media files into a planned export and checks the result for missing assets, timing problems, unreadable captions, and audio or video issues.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00070 $0.01000
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00400
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00200
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00100

Security

Grade A, and why

local-video-assembly scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Local Video Assembly

Core Workflow

  1. Identify the target output: platform, aspect ratio, resolution, frame rate, target length, source assets, voiceover, captions, review owner, and whether captions should be sidecar, burned in, or both.
  2. Inspect local inputs before planning commands: image dimensions, audio duration, sample rate, caption timing, missing files, rights/provenance notes, and any render constraints from the surrounding production brief.
  3. Create or update a render manifest with scene order, file paths, durations, visual treatment, voiceover segments, caption references, overlays, output profile, and acceptance checks.
  4. Plan FFMPEG assembly with deterministic local steps: normalize source media, compose still or slide scenes, sync narration, add simple motion or fades, apply captions, normalize loudness, and export a review MP4.
  5. Validate the export with ffprobe and visual/audio spot checks: confirm video stream, audio stream, resolution, duration, frame rate, sample rate, caption readability, audio sync, and no missing or placeholder assets.
  6. Return a human-review package with the final file path, validation summary, known issues, disclosure/provenance notes, and a clear go, revise, or hold recommendation for the next publishing checklist.

MVP Defaults

  • Use a 16:9 narrated explainer profile unless the user requests another format: 1920x1080, 30 fps, MP4 container, H.264 video, AAC stereo audio at 48 kHz, progressive scan, yuv420p, and fast-start metadata.
  • Prefer still, slide, screenshot, or generated-image scenes with restrained pans, zooms, fades, and text overlays. Do not assume a synthetic on-camera host unless the production brief explicitly includes one.
  • Keep critical visual content and captions out of platform UI safe areas. Create both sidecar captions and burned-in review captions when practical.
  • Treat local TTS, generated visuals, stock assets, screen captures, and third-party media as provenance-sensitive inputs that need review.
  • Verify current platform upload, disclosure, or encoding guidance from official sources when exact tactical requirements matter.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
