metric-definition

metric-definition is a skill for Codex from jeremylongworth-source/AgentSkills. It costs 49 tokens per session (303 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for defining business, product, financial, and operational metrics precisely. It records formulas, data sources, time windows, filters, owners, quality checks, and known limitations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a metrics dictionary, specify KPI formulas and data sources, document segmentation and exclusions, and provide examples of correct interpretation.
Why use it?
It prevents teams from using the same metric name for different calculations or misunderstanding what a number includes. It also makes metric changes easier to control and review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.00303
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00151
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00061
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00030

Security

Grade A, and why

metric-definition scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Metric Definition

Core Workflow

  1. Identify metric purpose, decision use, audience, owner, and source system.
  2. Define formula, grain, time window, filters, inclusions, exclusions, and segmentation.
  3. Specify source of truth, freshness, data quality checks, and known caveats.
  4. Distinguish input metrics, output metrics, leading indicators, and lagging indicators.
  5. Add examples and counterexamples so users avoid common misinterpretations.
  6. Define review cadence and change-control expectations.

Safety Rules

  • Do not invent formulas, source systems, baselines, or business definitions.
  • Do not publish financial, investor, compliance, or compensation metrics without reviewer confirmation.
  • Flag metrics that can be gamed or misread without segmentation.

Deliverable Shape

For metric definitions, provide:

  • Metric name and purpose
  • Formula and grain
  • Source of truth
  • Filters and exclusions
  • Segments and time windows
  • Caveats and quality checks
  • Owner and review cadence
  • Example interpretation

References

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
