security-audit

security-audit is a skill for Claude Code from Jewgah/claude-code-skills. It costs 22 tokens per session (501 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A code security audit guide for finding common weaknesses such as exposed secrets, missing access checks, and unsafe input handling. It covers issues described by OWASP, a widely used collection of web security risks.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for checking credentials, authentication, authorization, injection, path traversal, cross-site scripting, and webhook or API protections in a codebase.
Why use it?
Security problems can hide in configuration, routes, database rules, or user-input processing. A focused audit gives the reviewer a checklist for finding these risks before release.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00022 $0.00501
Opus 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00200
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00100
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00050

Security

Grade A, and why

security-audit scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Security Audit

Scan the codebase for common security vulnerabilities. Focus on $ARGUMENTS if provided, otherwise audit the full project.

Steps

  1. Secrets & credentials - search for hardcoded secrets, API keys, tokens, passwords:

    • Grep for patterns: API_KEY=, SECRET=, password, token, bearer tokens, base64-encoded strings that look like keys
    • Check .gitignore covers .env*, credentials files, key files
    • Check no .env file is tracked in git: git ls-files | grep -i env
  2. Auth & access control - review authentication and authorization:

    • Verify auth checks exist before sensitive operations
    • Check for missing auth middleware on routes/endpoints
    • Look for insecure session handling, missing CSRF protection
    • Check Firestore/database security rules if present
  3. Injection vulnerabilities - check for:

    • SQL injection (unparameterized queries)
    • XSS (unescaped user input rendered as HTML, dangerouslySetInnerHTML, innerHTML)
    • Command injection (exec, spawn with unsanitized input)
    • Path traversal (user input in file paths)
  4. Webhook & API security - if webhooks exist:

    • Verify signature validation (HMAC, etc.)
    • Check for replay attack protection
    • Verify input validation on all external-facing endpoints
  5. Dependencies - run npm audit (if package.json exists) and flag high/critical vulnerabilities.

  6. Report - output findings grouped by severity:

## CRITICAL (fix immediately)
- [description] - [file:line]

## HIGH
- ...

## MEDIUM
- ...

## LOW / INFO
- ...

If no issues found in a category, skip it. End with a one-line summary.

Do NOT

  • Modify any files - this is read-only
  • Report false positives from vendored/generated files (node_modules, .next, dist)
  • Flag env var USAGE (like process.env.X) as a leaked secret - only flag hardcoded values
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

security-audit is a skill published in the GitHub repository Jewgah/claude-code-skills (2 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 22 tokens to every session and 501 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-14.
